Ivan IS an alien BEM. By posting in such a manner, he’s subtly steering us all to disbelieve in the existence of aliens. It’s a Purloined Letter - hiding in plain sight - sort of thing, as they plot our overthrow.

The other thing he missed is, in effect he was junior modding by trying to alter the direction of the thread, before the thread’s OP had even had a chance to respond. Mr Kobayashi later came in to say he didn’t even mind me making the posts I did , but xtisme decided on a whim to jump in feet first.

I only see where he says “I hadn’t considered the military implications, although with evidence that we’re definitely not alone I can imagine the world’s militaries gearing up for a worst case scenario. Which might be a good thing, as war is generally accompanied by increases in technology. Only this time we’d have the benefits of war without the actual…war bit” which isn’t the same thing.

All I did was suggest the possibilty that they might have already visited, which raises the question of why governments haven’t already done what the OP was asking.
I then provided the name of a book, that as far as I’m aware, is the nearest thing to an authoritative catalogue of military encounters with what could be alien craft. Perhaps posters could provide a better source than the one I have mentioned?
Which wasn’t what the OP was asking. You provided a drive post with a throw away link that was a hijack to the thread, since it wasn’t relevant to the OP. As I said in the post that apparently kicked off this train wreck, if you wanted to talk about the government covering things up in the context of answering the OP by going on to actually address the questions in the OP, then that would be one thing. You didn’t do that.
