What is a word that ends with GRY and isn’t angry or hungry?
Oh shit. Look out.
FilFil, I suggest you e-mail manhattan, the forum moderator, and ask him VERY nicely to delete this thread. Your life will become hell very shortly if you don’t.
This couldn’t be related to the “What’s this joke?” thread, could it?
This is someone who hasn’t been registered long, and has a low post count.
This is covered in the archives. Short answer: there isn’t one.
FilFil:
Let me introduce you to the first three rules of the SDMB message board:
#1: Don’t ask the GRY question.
#2: Don’t ask the GRY question.
#3: Don’t ask the GRT question.
The next seven rules also involve not asking the GRY question.
Guys, don’t be too hard on him. He’s a newbie.

who has addressed this puzzle in the past:
What are the three English words ending in -gry?
Short answer: there are dozens of words in the Oxford English Dictionary that are hundreds of years obsolete and end in gry. The puzzle to which you are refering in a trick question.
The answer can be found in this column by Cecil Adams:
What are the three English words ending in -gry?
This question has been asked (and answered) many times on this board, which is why some posters are warning you to expect sarcastic remarks.
I recommend the following link, to preclude future postings of this sort.
That, and use the search engine.
The above posts have answers this (tired, old, cliche, irritating) question quite well.
Now go, FilFil111, and sin no more.
This question is the scourge of every Q&A on the internet!

Now you’ve done it.
Welcome, FilFil! Lotsa folks make this little faux pas, so don’t take the razzing to personally. Many of the people who post here eat lots of Spam, because it tastes like people. So it’s not unsusual for them to gnaw on a newcomer’s tail when this subject arises.
Has anyone seen one of these lying around somewhere?
o
I seem to have lost one.
Hey, in the link for the Lame Questions FAQ on http://www.straightdope.com/faq/index.html it says that they add “words ending in -gry and questions about glass flowing to the list”. As the author of the “Flowing Glass” thread here way back when (hey, Cecil responded to it) I just have to waver between warm fuzzies and grumbles at its informal addition to the list
Heh, heh. I knew there was a reason to dislike whoever is behind the user name of the OP. These links all go to topics originally started by FilFil. Enjoy!
