Since the 25,000[sup]th[/sup] SportsCenter show is approaching for ESPN on the 25[sup]th[/sup] of this month, they have posted a bunch of their funny commercials here for your easy viewing. I had not seen all of them, but damn, if you are even the kind of person who barely tolerates sports, these are good.
Sweet! I’m watching all of them as soon as I’m done here. Their Y2K test commercial was genius.
I saw one last night in which Mark McGwire gives Dan Patrick the ball from Big Mac’s 62nd home run. Dan is visibly moved: “This… this is priceless. This is something to keep my whole life…”
Cut to two days later, as Dan, presumably baseballless, pulls up to work in his shiny, red Lamborghini Countach.
Hilarious!
&*@( piece of !$%&. You can choose between Windows Media Player and RealPlayer - both of them tell me that they need to download a “plugin” to play these files. Then they take me to a page where I can DL and install the latest version of these wonderful programs! Translation: if you want to see these files, you’ll have to get the latest, most bug-ridden chunk of bloatware that will attempt to take over your system. Then, after spending an hour wresting control of your computer back from these quasi-viral “applications,” you just might be able to see them.
Pant, pant. Sorry. This is just one of my pet peeves. I refuse to give them the satisfaction. I’ll wait for the show.
I hear ya, Smeghead. I have so much trouble with streaming media apps that I usually don’t bother. On this one, I’d click RealVideo and it would, for some reason, open up two slightly different player windows, which would both play the file a few seconds apart. Yes, with overlapping sound. Once I realized what was going on though, I’d shut one down as soon as it opened.
But RealMedia can be a RealPainintheass, for sure.
