YAHMFTSQ: "Yet Another Help Me Find This Song Question"

I give up… I’ve searched www.cddb.com to no avail trying to track this song down.

The song’s chorus is dominated by the lines “In-to the light… In-to the liiiiiiiggght”.

Singer sounds like the guy from Alan Parsons Project.

Song came out mid- to late-70s I want to say.

Guy playing the keyboards, and there’s a drum track, but that’s it. Bass is handled by a cheesy sounding keyboard track. No guitar.

Pop-rockish song and I guess even the music sounds like it could be Alan Parsons-ish, but I don’t want to throw out red herrings. It has been played on the radio a bunch of times, but I haven’t heard it in years.

Argghhh… I can hum the song to myself… I know the freeking melody, but for the life of me I can only recall the specific “into the light” lyrics that are sung during the chorus.

So I thought I’d throw this out to you guys to see if it rings any bells and I’ll go check out the suggestions.

I know it’s little to go on.

MANY thanks!

Could it be Souixsie and the Banshees’ “Into the Light”?

Thank you for the suggestion, but no.

I listened to “Eye in the Sky” by Alan Parsons Project and it just remined me of this “into the light” song I always liked, but never knew who did it or what it was called.

You’re not thinking of Joe Jackson’s “Stepping Out” are you? (I think the line is “into the night” not “into the light”)

Prince - Into the Light ?

Yes, yes, yes!

Joe Jackson’s “Steppin’ Out” is the song!

I just confirmed that via Amazon’s song clips.

Thank you so much, Mister Damage, you really made my day!

Could it be “See-ee the liiiiiggghhht”? That’s what I’ve got running through my head now. Can’t recall any more of the song than that yet.

Off to Cafe Society.
