Which is the “real” SDMB league this season? Is the first one really full? Is Hugh Jass’s league 12-14 teams? Does it have individual defensive players (please!)?

Anybody going to create one outside of Yahoo!?

PS I tried checking this thread around the sametime yesterday and the servers were down :frowning:

well, I think we should have one league for the crew that faithfully stomped through at least 3 mock drafts over the past couple months. Anyone agree?

Hugh – any objection to my doubling up? I love SDMB fantasy football. Some of the most imaginative smack talk ever.

Hugh – what’s with teh starting lineups?

2 QB
4 WR
4 RB
2 TE
1 WR/TE
1 K
2 D
2 DL
2 DB

Don’t you think that’s a bit bloated? I love individual D players, but starting 13 offensive positional players seems a bit much. Where’s the agony of sitting William green the week he finally learns to play in the NFL?

Yeah, no kidding. I can’t believe that first league is going to close its doors with only 10 teams after 36 hours to sign up. We have a core of at least 6 or 7 people that have been doing this… If neither of these leagues will accomodate that group I can always start another one.

And I submit that that league should be this year’s ‘official’ SDMB league, naturally.

Also, somebody get in touch with Hamlet… I’m sure there are others that need to get in on this as well.

That’s not 2 STARTING QBs, is it? And speaking of smack talk, I just want to be in a league with Hamlet, who has the most creative smack ever slung!

I think (in the new league) a good balance is:

1 QB
1-3 RBs
1-3 WRs (total of 4 RB/WRs)
1 TE
1 K
3 D players (any positions)

Of course that depends on the scoring.

You’re right. I thought I was setting up how many you could have on a roster. I will change it to the standard 11:

1 qb
2wr
2rb
1 te
1wr/te
1k
1dl
2db

My bad.

Also, no objections to doubling up. The league is 14 players. I like the idea of having to dig at the bottom of the barrel for some players. I thought about making it 16 or more, but it seemed to be a bit much.

Hugh

P.S. Were you in my league last year? 'cause the William Green situation happened to me. I got sick of his rusing for 11 yards every week and cut him. Then he rushed for 100+ the rest of the season. Lousy fink.

I’ve never been in an SDMB league so I don’t know how you all like doing things, but would anyone be interested in a 12 team league with the default Yahoo lineup? I would start one up, but maybe someone the regulars are familiar with should be commish…

Only (minor) thing I don’t like about Yahoo’s scoring is safety’s. They’re to few and far between to be worth the same as an INT. I raised it to 4 pts in my money league…

I’m gonna be a prick and pull out of this one, Baba. I’m going to hold out until interest is solidified with the usual suspects (WL, Hamlet, Shibb, et al.).

I keep getting timed out trying to make the following post, so needless to say I support your last post Munch:

Personally I think Munch should start a league (since he performed so admirably handling the duties for the mocks).

[Slight hijack for you overactive, pigskin-pumpin, prideful prognosticators: I am planning an Football Pool for Any Idiot. I posted a thread on it a month or so ago to gauge interest. I’m just saying this here because a) you guys might be interested and b) I’m trying to forestall someone else doing it. Not that that would be wrong. :)]

Hugh – I’m pretty sure we were in teh same league last year. I lost in the Superbowl after gambling that Faulk would recover from his ankle injuries in time to soar.

On the lineup, I would just lobby for a WR/RB instead of a WR/TE and complete freedom for any 3 defensive players.

In my experience, a WR/TE when 1 TE is already required simbly becomes a third WR. How many time will you find 2 TE on a team that put up better numbers than the WR?

Alright, so now we just wait?

Aparently, I’m not a usual suspect anymore. That’s fine, the police have been using that phrase when talking about me all too much lately.

Now let me get this straight before get called stupid again, The last league I was in valued WRs over anything else. The Ant Sports mock drafts valued RBs, and some other leagues value QBs over all. Which is this? If I can get an answer, I’m in, and I’m gonna be a homer again.

Weirddave, you’re an “et al.”. I’ll upgrade you if you accept my trade offer in the baseball league!

Yahoo default settings tend to favor RB, then QB, then WR. You can set it up however you like, of course.

Weirddave, you never played in the mock drafts so you are persona non grata as far as I am concerned!

Just kidding. I’m still bitter from when you smoked me for second place in fantasy baseball the year before last.

Would there be any interest in a keeper league?

I am all over a keeper league…havent done one before but I have wanted to. Keep how many? I think 3 is good…any more than that and it kills the fun of the draft.

I’d love a keeper league, but I’m very much unclear on the actual logistics of such a thing.
