Yahoo Mail odd behavior (again)

My husband and I both use AT&T e-mail which sadly comes to us via Yahoo. Recently he and some other people send e-mails to me and the screen shows me Yahoo Mail ! as the sender. Sometimes these go to spam and sometimes not. If I then hover over the sender it shows me the person (always someone in my contacts) who actually sent it. And it is in fact an e-mail from that person, not spam. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get it to stop? Yahoo mail is of course of no help and offers me advice on dozens of things that are not what I am asking about. Also, it does not happen to me even though I am also using the very same e-mail program (as far as I know).

Don’t know if it’s related but my husband has had lots of times being asked to change his password because he’s had too many tries even though he has not and even though he can put in the very same password as “new” and it’s accepted. I hare had this happen, but only twice. I don’t want to change e-mails (NO NO NO) but this is nuts. Answers? Advice? If this needs to be not in Factual Questions, ok, but I am really hoping for a Factual Answer from the smartest people I know.

This happens to me, too, on my Yahoo-based e-mail service.

As far as I can tell, here’s what’s going on. My account showed up in a data breach and is listed on some, well, lists. My various tracking services like to remind me that I have a vulnerability on the dark web.

I’ve changed all the relevant passwords, so that particular leak isn’t dangerous. But it doesn’t stop people from trying. So every few days to a week, I have to “reset” my password, and re-authenticate my two laptops and the apps on my phone.

I’ve had the account for something like 20 years, so I’d rather not change, but one of these days I’m going to get fed up with it and pull the trigger.

I am just wondering if any of you have upgraded to Y!+ which is advertised on my home page and is apparently not a scam but Yahoo wanting me to upgrade. Since I get Yahoo only through AT&T does the upgrade still work? Does it apply to me? Is it legit? Anyone?
