I’m not offended by the term, but I am a bit troubled by the double standard that it represents. I’ve heard opponents of the death penalty say that you don’t teach people that killing is wrong by killing people. In the same vein, I don’t think you teach people that racial epithets are wrong by using racial epithets, or that stereotyping is wrong by stereotyping.
That maybe so, but you don’t level the playing field by allowing a nacient, mild form of racism grow to counter the historical injustices of racial discrimination by the majority, both sides have to establish a common boundary based on mutual respect. Either saying all racial epithets is ok, or none of it is ok, you can’t pick and chose just because of a power dynamic between certain communities, racism is racism.

I am white. The term “wypipo” doesn’t really offend me that much. That be said, it does make it easier for white people to be dismissive of someone’s views on race if they repeatedly use slang or epithets to describe a race or ethnic group.
In my experience the one term most white people seem to most offended to be referred to is “white trash”. Though, to be fair, I have never heard any African American describe a white person as “white trash”; only other white people.

The discussion was about white people having the majority of positions in a lot of mainstream employment and government. I said this is due to them being majority population and wealth, the other poster denied it. Then the other poster (quite obviously liberal) insinuated and made some insult that it was about some ‘privilege’ bullshit on the part of myself and by extension all whites and was making suggestions about education level. My reply was to counter that, as he was asserting that whites are not deserving of their positions and are over represented and I do not agree.
