On Letterman, there was a joke about the Yankees no longer selling Cracker Jacks in their stadium.
Can this be true?
How can they play the music Take Me Out To The Ball Game at the seventh inning stretch without getting a lot of fans mad at them?
Even if sales are way down, all they need is two boxes. One empty to display, and one to sell. How much of a space sacrafice is that?
Google News can’t find anything about this.
It’s true. It’s been replaced by “Crunch ‘n’ Munch,” which does not have a toy surprise inside. Guess we know where the money for A-Rod came from.
Then again, Cracker Jacks haven’t had a “toy” inside in 20 years.
OK, true. But they still have a surprise in them of some kind, and my understanding is that Crunch ‘n’ Munch doesn’t even have that.
I’m a purist. I want Cracker Jack.
(Crunch ‘n’ Much is way better, though.)
Bastards!
The fans aren’t going to get mad, especially since they are replacing it with a similar snack.
I never heard sales used as an explanation. It was an issue that Cracker Jack would only sell their candy in bags, not boxes, and also Crunch ‘n’ Munch beat it in a taste test. Except for people who own stock in Cracker Jack, I don’t think anybody will actually care.
You must have spelled wrong, as they’ve got articles going back to Wednesday.
At least “buy me some peanuts and Crunch 'n Munch” fits. Coulda been “buy me some peanuts and Screaming Yellow Zonkers…”
When I saw the subject line, my first thought was that the anti-peanut zealots had convinced the park that *Just One Child * in the park *Some Day * might be allergic to peanuts, and getting rid of the horridly dangerous snack would save them, but that’s not the case as CnM also has peanuts.
I see the problem. I used the plural, as in the thread title.
Not to defend the EVIL Yankees… but a Yankee spokesman said it was because Crcker Jacks refused to package it in boxes… bags only. Let me find the article.
Does “Crunch ‘n’ Munch” rhyme with “back”?
I do not think so.
Not the same thing at all.
Buy me some peanuts and Crunch N Munch
Jeter’s so bad that I might lose my lunch…
Buy me some peanuts and Crunch 'n Munch
One of these days George is gonna get punced.
C’nM does taste better. But it’s tradition dang it!
a “punce” is when you both pounch and punch.
You know what I haven’t seen yet? Anybody saying “I like Cracker Jack” or even “I eat Cracker Jack regularly.” Hmm…
'kay, so they won’t sell it in boxes. that’s why they dropped it?? I don’t get it.
and i do eat crackerjack when I’m working at the Uof Wisc football games and I get hungry, since i don’t do brats, hot dogs or pizza hut ‘pizza’. maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
On the "so what if they won’t package CJ in boxes issue - Boxes make for bulkier trash, so you’d think they’d *encourage * the snacks to be in bags.
Yeah… but the boxes are so traditional… ya know?
