Whatever, man. I’m not the one who got all butthurt over an internet link.
If you guys are going to get all butthurt, get butthurt about the fact that you’re getting called out by a grammar nerd for misspelling ad nauseam.
My butt hurts.
Fear Itself, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one, but we prefer to keep referential terms to ‘the offboard community that shall remain nameless’. I’ll assume you weren’t aware of it, but please don’t do this again. Thanks.
Special treatment for special people? You’ll fit in well on staff.
Easy, Fear Itself ain’t got a rap sheet. You are molehilling.
See, this just doesn’t make sense. If you are giving her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn’t aware of the other place then why don’t you admit that it’s not significant where the phrase came from? Why should “referential terms” be confined if they don’t actually violate any board rules?
Because if somebody calls you Cloudy and you object to it and then I start doing it, isn’t that in essence the same infraction but doubled?
I think not. A common insult here (One I"ve said I don’t care for, feel is juvenile etc) is the intentional screwing up the user name, to make an insult. And, I think, “GED” is an obvious one for “QED” So I dont’ see why there would be an assumption it came from elsewhere.
(and Im not generally a fan of CarnalK, either)
Because we don’t want every Pit thread to be “no u, fap fap fap”. It’s a difficult line to write, but, the fact of the matter is that offboard stuff needs to stay offboard. I’m not sure how many times I need to let you know this.
If you want to argue where the line will be, I’ll listen – I’m no fan of beating people about the head, frankly – but you seem to argue that there should be no line. Sorry, but that ain’t happening.
I stand corrected. Until (very) recently I hadn’t taken into account the pejorative weight of “GED.” Thank you.
Well stop fiddlin’ with it.
I don’t see how an explanation follows the word “because” there. It would indeed be the same infraction and I don’t think either should be one. Though calling me “Cloudy” might get a bunch of people to ask where the extra nickname came from and, as wring points out and I’ve tried to explain to fluiddruid, GED would not.*
*eta: Oh, I see you got it.
Oh, you finally got yours?
d&r
Why I oughtta -
The fuck are you doing in MO?
I don’t get it. Why would anyone object to being called “Cloudy”?
You are full of shit. There is no malware there. You either made it up whole cloth or are lying. Neither is becoming.
(emphasis mine.)
Interesting distinction.
