I have seen all of the director’s films mentioned in this thread. I consider Fresh to be one of the finest films of the past decade. It is one of only a handful of movies I immediately watched again after seeing it the first time on video.

My reaction to finding that he had made Uptown Girls was quite the opposite of lissener’s. I am appalled that the director would choose to waste his talent on such an obviously ill-fated film. He had accumulated enough clout to choose a better project. Thus my groaning at the previews.

In effect, one can by spreading such bad opinions and press about it that you prevent further sales. Thus, your actions result in a loss to the company of potential revenue greater than you yourself could directly do by … well, by not doing.

I’m not advocating it, just sayin’ that’s how you could short sell a movie.
