Yes. I Know Your Kids Went To Harvard! I DON'T CARE!!

What is with the American obsession with school stickers on car rear windows? People must feel the need to advertise that their little Johnny or Susie went to Harvard, Yale, Princeton…ad nauseum.
In addition: those weird destination ovals-ya know the ones that advertise that “this car went to Belgium, Martha’s Vineyard, etc.,etc.
Oh, and I almost forgot: “MY SON WAS STUDENT OF THE YEAR AT SCHMUCK HS”!
What’s the deal? Am I supposed to care about all of this? Who gives a damn?
Actually, I’d like to obtain some nasty bumper stickers…I’ve seen a few:
“YOUR COLLEGE SUCKS!”
" MY SON WAS INMATE OF THE YEAR AT MCI CONCORD”
“LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER”

heh, parental pride, can be very very annoying, especially in my experience when parents are oblivious to their childrens fault.

Like the other bumper stickers though

When my daughter was in middle school, it was important to her that I put her honor student sticker on my car, so I did. Luckily, it was one of the removable types that go on the window, so I don’t still have a King Geroge Middle School Honor Student sticker on my van.

One of the stickers I like best, tho, says “My kid and my money go to <whatever> State University” - cracks me up.

Just wondering - would it make a difference to you if the school sticker on the car window was from the alma mater of the vehicle owner - whether the kid(s) went there or not? Personally, I don’t usually pay attention to such things anyway - when I finally graduated, I put my college days behind me and I don’t much care who studied where.

Seen recently: “My kid can beat up your honor student.”

I saw one the other day:
“My kid beat up your honor student”

Now there’s a winner.

Yeah, but his post beat up your post!

My neighbor across the street has two bumper stickers:

“I <heart> my soccer player”
“Smart kids play hockey”

I guess that’s why she doesn’t have an “honor student” sticker, too…

I want to see a bumper sticker saying, “My honor student sentenced your kid to life in prison.”

“My kid got your honor student pregnant” - I saw that not too long ago.

My car used to be a walking anacronymnic billboad - SCA, UU, GLBT, C/W.

Esprix

“My teacher is honor student”.

Heck, I HOPE that never catches on in Britain - the dimwits with car stickers saying “Baby on Board” are quite bad enough!

Blech!

:frowning:

Hehehehe, if you didn’t care, you wouldn’t be so irritated with it.

“Your honor student served my kid a HAPPY MEAL”

I want to see one that says “Your kid might be an honor student, but your driving STILL sucks”!!!

“Honor Student In Trunk”

Um. I have stickers from my alma mater and my graduate program on my car. I’m not trying to stick your nose in the fact that I went to a state school. Or is it only Ivy League bumper stickers that are a bother?

Since I have alumni stickers, does this mean I can’t join in the rant against the oval placename stickers?

And, finally, Esprix, C/W?

“My Catholic priest molested your honor student.” Back of my (Italian, Catholic) friend Mike’s Volvo.

My favorites are the “VT” oval stickers designed to look like the foreign country stickers you’ll see in Europe. They seem quite prevalent in this neck of the woods. Funny, though–last time I looked, Vermont was not yet an independent nation. Too bad; it could probably improve its economy by selling Elvis stamps.

The van in front of me yesterday was covered in stickers that informed me the driver found Jesus.
I suppose I should be happy for him.
