Yes, my friends. It is time, once again, for Time Bandits love.

That was heartbreaking. It went from being (from my perspective) merely a distant ‘dream come true’ sequence for Kevin to a very real loss for both of them.

Actually I have the “It’s eeEEEvil!” part embedded instead of the “Don’t touch it!”

ZAP!

BLAST!

FRY!

“I’m a reasonable man . . .”

I think my favorite bit from the ‘Robin Hood’ segment is that Marion - Robin’s traditional love interest - turns out to be a guy.

This is the last time my parents insisted they come along with me to see a movie. I walked out raving about how good it was, they walked about with a glazed look in their eyes. This is how I saw most of the 80’s horror movies by myself.

A classic and a must have for Gilliam fans

A zombie! Don’t touch it! Its evil!

It’s no zombie, the thread mearly fell through a hole in the fabric of space time. I think I have a map somewhere…

Yeah, give us some credit. We are the Straight Dope - we’re not entirely dim.

Here’s to stinking Kevin!

I saw this movie repeatedly on cable when I was about 11 or 12. Didn’t quite get it - I just thought it was some weird British movie that made very little sense to me. After reading this thread, I’m thinking it might be worth watching again as an adult.

Well, it is.
But this one is funny as hell.

We have turned our kids onto Time Bandits, and now they are busy indoctrinating the other 9-11 years olds! Gotta love the iPad!

And yes, we now get “Mum… Dad… It’s evil- don’t touch it!” at regular intervals (like cleaning up or emptying their backpacks).

I always thought that “Horseflesh”, the ex-group member, had turned to the dark side and was the dwarf seen in Evil’s lair.

I also got it when first out on DVD and it came with a replica map (A3 glossy paper) doesn’t seem to work though…

I suspect the Supreme Being has changed the IP addresses.

netflix.ca: Time Bandits is not available, but you might enjoy these titles… :frowning:

calgarypubliclibrary.com: copies available 9. Woo hoo!

How come you guys didn’t recomend this when I was looking for family movie night ideas?

“Dad, don’t touch that! It’s pure evil!”

<POOF!>

 Exactly!!

Yep, that freaked me out too. I watched it by myself on one of the first occasions when I was left home alone without a babysitter while my parents went out to dinner, which made the feelings of possible abandonment all the more creepy…

I discovered Time Bandits in high school and really liked it. The Agamemnon scenes are brilliant. The movie is uneven overall and even drags a bit at times, but overall is quite good, I think.

John Cleese said in a later interview that he based the pleasant but slightly-clueless figurehead Robin Hood on Prince Charles.

That’s what I wanted to think, too, but even now I can’t be sure that I wasn’t just rationalizing. Wouldn’t a compassionate fireman take Kevin along, or wait until Children’s Services arrived?
