Every pile-on of this guy feels so empty and pointless when you consider that he’s 13 years old and in a few years his personality is probably going to be radically different. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s an atheist two or three years from now. I went to school with a guy who is just as hardcore a Christian as our four-star general here, and he is currently an anthropology student and vocal atheist.
I think it’s just that he’s so preachy. It’s kind of annoying to constantly be lectured by a kid young enough to be my son. I do try to go easy on him, considering his age, but it’s difficult.
Maybe he will not stop believing, but he will be able to decide for himself what to believe, and will have learned to more carefully sort out the garbage (like this so called preacher man).
Some things either make sense or they don’t. Some things are taken on faith. And some things are just shit. Like that so called preacher man and his so called “teachings”.
sigh…
Way to bring people to the fold. IDIOT!
What are the wages of assclownery? I’m considering a change of profession.
HOLY COW…He thinks that Jack Schaap is too libral!
That’s the dude who runs that college where they consider Bob Jones University or Pensecola Christian College " too libral"
If you want to see a really majorly conservative church check out Christian Idenity! THAT is beyond fucked up
So you’re saying he’ll hold on to that feeling?
OK, that pastor apparently did not memorize among those 100 chapters the one where the J Man Himself says there is one unforgivable sin, and having a taste for trouser snake is NOT it.
Guys this crazy AND lame, get followers? I’m in the wrong business…
…
Oh, what the heck, might as well…
Hey, you know from a Fundamentalist perspective, their answer IS “yes” – though they may concede that the actions of the one are cruel and inhumane while those of the other are merely transgressive of the rules, they’ll tell you the law is the law, sin is sin is sin, and we’re ALL toast unless and until we get touched by Jesus (…what happens if you complain Jesus touched you inapropriately? :p).
The idea of grades of misdemeanor- v. felony-type sins (“venial” and “mortal”) is from the Catholic camp (and even in that side, one dude who boinks another is still fucked… in more ways than one:rolleyes:). And different types of afterlife discomfort depending on the sin? That’s just Dante taking literary licenses with folk-belief.
Assclownery? Don’t know. But apparently there’s a living to be made in penis puppetry.
Or just go on and on and on and on.
I don’t want to hijack this thread, but…
Okay, I find Curtis incredibly annoying, too, especially in this kind of thread where he’s trying to pull up all sorts of fringe churches to make his own religious beliefs look less crazy/nasty/nosy/stupid. But we have to ask ourselves a question…are we trying to get Curtis to look at things outside of his theological-colored glasses or are we trying to drive him off the board? Because sometimes the tone of the argument against him in threads like this starts to veer into “WE HATE YOU!” Land, and every time it does I get pulled back to the fact that we’re aiming this stuff at a 13-year-old boy. One with Asperger’s, no less.
The admonitions he tries to lard his BBQ Pit OPs with (like the one in the OP of this thread) are annoying as hell…any attempt to point and laugh at a church whose underlying theology is basically the same as yours is going to be wide open to pointing and laughing at your church, as well. But, again, this is a 13-year-old whose ideas (despite his own current certainty) are NOT set in stone. Do we really need to jump up and down on top of him, over and above making cogent arguments against or about his OPs?
Men become gynos because they want to look at naked women? Does he have any idea what kind of things gynos have to look at? Sickly, diseased, unclean vaginas.
Besides, the vagina by itself is not that sexy. It’s not as though the woman strips off and than stands there like Venus on the half-shell. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t. I cover up with the stuff they give me. Doctor sees a thigh, a leg, a vulva, and that’s it. Not all at once.
I don’t want to drive him off of the board. I just wish he’d stop preaching and start listening – even if he doesn’t necessarily agree. Curtis does start a lot of threads. And like I said, it CAN be insulting to be lectured about women’s issues by a thirteen year old male. I don’t think I’m the only woman on the board who felt that way.
But I don’t want him to leave. I hope he’ll learn something. I do think he’s speaking more from ignorance than malice, as you said. Curtis is an interesting poster, and he’s not really nasty. Just, as you said, really annoying. He needs to chill.
AND, Curtis, no offense, but you do need to start accepting that people here will comment on your own faith here if you start these kinds of threads. That’s a given. Remember – this is a board largely populated by adults, and sometimes they may be a wee patronizing. (I know I sure as hell can be!) But we’ve also been where you are, so again, don’t assume that we don’t know what you’re talking about. Or that we’re trying to insult you.
A lot of people have had the same experiences and beliefs you have had, but as you grow older, you’ll probably begin to look at those beliefs, and not be quite so rigid. Look around. Listen a bit. As I’ve said before – nothing is so black and white as you think.
(As for being young, at least he’s not like that andrew kid. Remember him? Talk about annoying shudder)
They have the right to believe whatever they wish, as long as they don’t go out hurting people in the name of their beliefs. But it really makes me angry that they insist upon calling themselves “Christian.” I don’t understand how anybody who has actually read about the life of Jesus of Nazareth could maintain that he would agree with this.
Funny, they say exactly the same about you.
Regarding the OP, why should I care that there is a church more extreme than Amazing Grace Baptist? It’s not like the existence of -12 makes -11 a positive number. It just shows that there are even more evil people slinging evil beliefs under the banner “Christianity” than I knew about before.
I mean, it’s not even fun to mock. It’s just depressing that these guys exist… but not that depressing, because from where I stand they’ve got already got plenty of company, relatively speaking, and so there being one evil Christian sect more or less makes little difference.
Am I the only one who finds the spoofed/fake liberal churches someplace I’d really like to visit? They all sound cool.
It kind of reminds me of the Obama related election threads where someone would say “Look, these are all the awful things Obama wants to do:” and the list read like a campaign advertising poster to my liberal eyes. I think the most concise and accurate outline of all the reasons I was voting for Obama came from Shodan.
I dunno, though – I think the snake handlers take the Communion Wafer.
Well yeah, I was raised Catholic, so that probably has something to do with my “world view” on high crimes and misdemeanors. I guess it shows a bit.
To fundamentalist Christians, that’s all vaginas.
