Another member of gods faithful Christian soldiers has fallen to sin so that he once again seek the righteous path and perhaps rise again in gods glory.
I don’t believe Christians see hypocrisy here. For them homosexuality is a sin, people are imperfect and commit sin, when this pastor spoke out against sin he was doing gods work, although he’s left gods grace he may retain it with prayer and good works which will validate the beliefs that all his brethren hold dear.
Randomly. A bunch of guys volunteered for the study without knowing what it would entail (typical college student guinea pigs for credit). They all filled out questionaires with a variety of questions about sex and sexuality. Then they were hooked up to the peter meter and shown different kind sof porn. The dudes who expressed the most homophobic views on the questionaires got significantly more aroused by the gay porn than the (self-identified straight) guys who did not express homophobic views.
While the quality of scientific studies varies (obviously) I think that far more often than not controls are used. I would tend to think that there probably were controls unless you were able to find the study and show that actually there weren’t.
Well, the angle is that this segment starts from the notion that what everyone is, is exposed to the temptation of Illicit Sex[sup]TM[/sup]; and then they further assume that a huge number of people must in turn be getting tempted by *Perverted *Illicit Sex[sup]TM[/sup], of which Gay is only one particular flavor. (To make a tortured analogy: they may believe everyone is subject to the temptation of unearned, illicit gain, but while many resist it easily, and some only go as far as fudging a $200 tax deduction or playing the nickel slots, others go on to armed bank robbery or billion-dollar corporate ripoffs)
(That is also why when gay rights are brought up these believers will argue that then you’ll open the door to recognizing rights to people into pedophilia, incest, bestiality, etc. ; to them it’s ALL evil perversion, just different brands)
How strong was the correlation coefficient in the study? 1.00? .8? .5?
Although I too believe that the bigger the homophobe, the bigger the probability that he’s a closet case, the study you quote probably doesn’t justify the 1:1 correlation you indicate. Your conclusion is stronger than the data allow for 8)
My opinion is that there are some gay people who grow up in an environment that teaches them that homosexuality is wrong. Many of them end up projecting their feelings on to other people. They don’t think “I’m attracted to men so I must be gay.” They think “The problem is all these homosexual men are all trying to tempt me into having sex with them. If I could just stop them from being homosexual then there would be no problem and I’d stop having those feelings.”

“Come into the closet and try us!”
