Yet another Ebay question.

On Oct. 30 I bought something on ebay. The seller had 88 feedbacks, only 4 of them were negative, I’ve dealt with worse. I paid him right away and he left me good feedback the next day, but I still haven’t recieved the item.

I know it’s not that late yet, but I wanted to e-mail the seller to see if he had shipped it out yet, so I go to ebay and look up his e-mail address and now it tells me that he’s an unregistered user.

Now, I’m in a panic. What do I do if I never get it ?

Am I just screwed ?

I’d say contact e-bay directly with the information about the sale, stop payment if you can (if it’s a check), and don’t bid in the future with people who have bad feedback.

(By contacting E-bay, I mean their fraud division)

Don’t deal with people who have any feedback at all? That seems extreme. This person apparently had 84 positive feedbacks and only 4 negative feedbacks.

They have 30 days to get your item to you. He probably hasn’t sent it yet or has sent it at a cheaper rate. Send him an email and ask when or if he has sent it yet.

Its only been a week? That’s nothing, wait two or three weeks is better. People vacation, people forget, etc. Besides ebay rules state you have to wait a certain period of time & you haven’t waited long enough.

Plus a FedX truck went flambe, maybe it was on that?

6 days? Unless you were planning on getting it fed-ex next day, I wouldn’t sweat it just yet. I’ve had things shipped Air that have still taken 2 weeks for whatever reason.

What do you do if you never get it? Depends on how much was it worth. If it is small, report them to ebay and chalk it up to lifes piss-offs. If it was big bucks check into mail fraud possibilities I guess.

Most of you guys seem to be ignoring the fact that the user is now unregistered in ebay. That would have my alarm bells going off. Contact Ebay immediately.

There are many reasons for being NARU on eBay - some of them are alarming but some can be perfectly benign (such as a seller moving address and forgetting to update their contact details, or a seller getting slightly behind in their eBay payments).

Personally I’d email the seller and give them a couple of days to respond. In the meantime, get a feel for your options if they have indeed run off with your cash. IIRC, eBay has either a $15, $20 or $25 deductable when you file fraud with them, so there’s no point if it was under that amount.

Good luck!

Give it a few days there, firefighter! It’ll come!

It’d be enough to make me hesitant. If a seller has more than a couple negative remarks, most of the time I will not bid on his item. With sellers with remarks in the thousands, I give a little more leeway.

In either case, if there is negative feedback, I look for and read them. If the negative feedback was the result of miscommunication or misunderstanding on the bidder’s part, I’ll be less reluctant and more likely to bid. But if the seller hasn’t made an effort to address his negative feedback, I’ll stay away.

It’s extreme, perhaps, but I’ve been on eBay for three years and I’ve never had a problem with a seller. Not once.

Would it be alright if the OP posted the auction nbr? Then we can check, after all, that’s how I usually do it.

I had a similar problem on ebay once. I paid for my purchase thru paypal. After 2 weeks I sent an e-mail, which was not returned. Then I noticed she was now listed as unregistered. I waited 3 days then sent another, waited 3 days and sent another then I contacted Paypal.

They gave me the seller’s real name, address and phone number. After that it was a simple matter of leaving a simple polite message on her machine for 3 days in a row. I got my item overnited then but she never answered any of my attempts to correspond.

I have made probably 75 purchases on ebay and this is the only one I ever had a problem with.

I’ll echo what Audrey said. If they have negative feedback, I always go to see what it’s all about. I make my decision after reviewing that, but generally I don’t buy from people with negative feedback. I’ve not had a problem with a seller in all the years I’ve been on E-bay.

I’ve seen buyers with one email for Ebay & one for Paypal & yet another for their personal Email. Of course, only one works. Ebay doesn’t seem to verify them regularily.

I think my first auction for selling when I had no feedback was for a $600 item & it went through just fine.
