Yet another 'Search' question...

I was looking for an old column by Cecil about the lyrics to a Steve Miller song, something about “stealing” lyrics, and came up short. Is the search function for the boards different than the one for old columns or do I just need to refine my search?
Non-related question while I’m here: How do I change my password?

Thanks

To change your password, click the User CP option on the left side of the menu bar at the top of the forum. Once on the User Control Panel page, click the Edit Email & Password option in the left column.

I don’t search on the columns, so I have no experience to address the first question.

Is this the column for which you were searching?

I entered “Steve Miller” (in quotes) in the search field at the top of the archives page and got no hits. However, there is a second search tool at the bottom of the archives page. I entered Steve Miller (no quotes) in the search field and selected Boolean: AND and got 9 hits, include the linked column.

Does that help?

Partly. Yes that is the column I was searching for. Thanks ever so.
When I click on the archive link at the bottom right hand side of this page, there is no search field.

Email me your current password.

Then send me five dollars and I’ll email you back your new password.

I went to the Straight Dope home page and clicked the Search link at the top to get to the archives page that had the two search tools.

The “Archive” link at the bottom of this page is the Message Board Archive. You wanted the Archives for the columns and Staff Reports, which you get by going to the Home Page and then that Archive.

Thanks all. Ignorance fought!

Our work here is done.

Thanks, everybody.
