YIPES! Raining in Phoenix.

Something really weird going on outside. Some sort of water is coming down from the sky! I sort of recall something like this once, long ago.

After 140 days, it is finally raining here.

Welll…it’s March. Rain and flash-flood season down your way.

If Phoenix is anything like San Diego, stay off the freeways until everyone calms down. I once passed 5 accidents in about half a mile of highway just after a dry spell.

Watch out for flash floods and signs of the Apocalypse.

Just got home from 5 days in Tucson. I’ve never been there before, despite 5 years of nagging by my mum to get me to visit.

It’s funny how you guys have these ditches here and there and call them “rivers”. Round these parts, rivers are things with water in them. Then the whole “well, there’s a drought going on, and besides, when it rains in the mountains, you ought to SEE those rivers flow…” was explained and I felt better.

Then I landed at Midway and drove home in the rain.

What is this “rain” of which you speak?

Where I was, it only sprinkled for a few minutes. Pppfff. And here I was hoping for lots of the stuff.

Er… yay?

Too funny. My wife just spent a week in PHX, and got home yesterday, complaining of the heat and drought in Arizona. Of course, it was pouring with rain when she landed in Holland.

(She’s AZ born and raised, but has already “lost” her resistance to heat after 2 years over here.)
