At one point in my career on the SDMB (I can’t remember if I was a mod yet), I was accused by another member of stalking. My reply was something along the lines of, “We have some similar interests. I don’t show up in religion threads; you don’t show up in baseball threads; we’re both interested in politics.”
I’m bewildered as to why someone should issue a challenge of stalking when it is far more likely that the “stalker” simple shares common interests.
No, no - I don’t care if he happens to post in the same threads as I do, it’s that he has, in several different threads, tried to pick fights with me by commenting on my exchanges with other people, when I had said nothing to him.
Clearly, Lute started the exchange in the linked thread, with this comment:

I did nothing in that thread to engender such a comment from Lute. He’s obviously smarting from some imagined slight from another thread. I’d list the other times he’s done this, but honestly I can’t think why I’d want to expend the effort. I honestly can’t believe he started a thread over something so silly.
Cyber-stalking, to me, is distinguished by how it personalizes the contact. People can bump into one another frequently in this or that thread about this or that topic. When they discuss the topic, no one is stalking anyone. But when one engages the other consistently in a manner that amounts to nothing more than taunting, that’s stalking.
Thank you Lib; that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Not that he happens to see my posts, but that he feels compelled to give me shit when he does see my posts, and frequently about things that happened in other threads.
I’m posting here in hopes that lowbrass will consider me a stalker and do that totally original joke where he slightly changes my username so that it’s insulting in a third grade kind of way. Or not change it at all, since he already finds it insulting enough.
Maybe he’ll make several posts in a row, each just a tiny bit more hysterical than the last until he wears himself out (this will take quite a while) and says he’s not posting in this thread ever again-- until the next time he posts to it.
