My doctor put me on Actonel because I’m the most common target of osteoporosis (petite, white, 50+ and a smoker). So far, I seem to be avoiding the “painful bones” side effect. However, it gives me a bizarre taste in my mouth for the entire day I take it. Also, it makes me tired and spacey. Do any of you take this drug? What sort of side effects are you experiencing?
I’m also interested in knowing if any of you developed ulcers, which is the scariest side effect as far as I’m concerned.
Smoker? Kalhoun - need I take your petite little hand and walk you through the reasons to quit now, and avoid complicating side effects. Smoking can make those nasty side effects get even nastier. Come on now…I want to look at your post count in 10 years and see 100k.
Seriously, my mom took it - but she stopped it. Similar side effects to what you’re talking about, but also including sore bones - and she had back problems at the time which made her feel 100% worse. She doesn’t take it anymore.
Just called her to ask her if she replaced it with anything and she said no. (I would have posted that earlier but I went outside for a smoke and the edit timed out. :D)
