You Are Invited To The SDMB Potluck!

If you bring creamy potato salad, I’ll bring the German kind.

I once brought a bottle of Jameson’s to a potluck and one guy drank it all.

That sounds like a good reason NOT to bring a bottle of Jameson’s…

I hope his name started with H and ended in atchie

What? No deviled eggs? Those are on me.

May as well make a fresh peach cobbler, too.

Tonight I cooked @Ion1 hand-cut chicken nuggets fried w/ canola oil in my cast iron skillet, she made homemade ranch dressing, a good time was had by all.

So… chicken nuggets. But good ones. [OLD]Not like that pre-made shit they make nowadays.[/OLD]

Post #6. And a peach pie to boot!

Wow, you got to me subliminally!! I’ll have to give a little think to bringing something else.

My go-to potluck dish these days is “spinach squares.” The original Betty Crocker recipe is pretty bland (basically just spinach, eggs, grated cheese, and a touch of chopped onion).

My version takes the original to a tastier level - the “spinach” I use is a variety of fresh greens from my garden, and I add dill weed, whole dill seed, and ground dill seed for a nuanced dill flavor.

And don’t wash off the aphids. Protein goodness!

Sadly, I must wash the greens very well - rat lungworm is a thing here.

I’ve heard these called pinwheels. I spread a large tortilla with cream cheese, then add capers, minced green onions, smoked salmon, a bit of lemon juice.
Roll the tortilla, wrap in Saran Wrap and rest in refrigerator. Remove Saran and slice 1/2 inch pieces. Arrange on a plate.

They always get eaten!

This time of year? I’m making rhubarb cobbler.

During plague days, I used my bread machine quite a bit, and discovered a really tasty herbed pizza dough. So my contribution is a variety of mini-pizzas on my yummerrific herbed crust. All kinds of toppings, or none, as you wish. Dig in!!!

And now is the time at the SD Potluck where we dance! Twist and shout and feel the burn! Feel those calories melting away!

No, no! Can’t have too many deviled eggs! Or peach-themed desserts.

Has anybody mentioned chili? I will bring a pot of my chili. And yes it will have beans in it!

And maybe some jalapeno bread to go with.

My home-made Catawba Grape Pie.

I realize that they’re out of season, but Virtual Catawba Grapes are ALWAYS in season. Also, although I’ve used other varietals, I’ve never been able to get Catawba, but that’s another beauty of this being a Virtual Pie.

Grape Pies are labor-intensive, but fortunately, Virtual Labor Intensive work takes even less effort than Real Work.

Enjoy! Imagine the Labrusca grape flavor with its tang of foxiness.

I’ve only ever had Concord grape pie. But yum.

I think I will bring my magic Shrimp Cesar Salad. It’s magic because it’s so simple.

  1. go to Costco,
  2. buy a shrimp salad,
  3. buy a Cesar salad,
  4. mix them together in a ginormous bowl.

Easy-peasy! And soooo good. Enough to feed a small army.

Put me down for grilled honey peaches.
