You can drop everything and travel: where do you go?

Tokyo, Australia, and Europe, probably in that order.

For going back, I’ll pick Hawaii.

Mcott, no need for the lottery - you would have no problem doing this itinerary for about $4000 CAD using a round-the-world ticket available from one of the three major airline alliances (Star Alliance, OneWorld, SkyTeam), departing from Canada. And you might even be able to spend less; some savvy travelers take advantage of exchange rates and local pricing by buying their RTW tickets through travel agents in places like Cairo or Warsaw, and buying a separate round trip ticket to get there to start their RTW.

Also, airtreks.com specializes in RTW and other complex int’l trips; I used them last year to go to SE Asia.

Look around flyertalk.com for more information on RTW tickets and travel.

I’d want to see New Zealand, and I’d also like to see some of Canada’s far North.

As for returning, I’d head back to Rome in a second. I know I’ll be back there eventually - the coin I threw into the Trevi fountain a week ago pretty much guarantees it - but I want to be there now. Heck, if there are no time limits or money issues, let me see all of Italy. I’d like to give Berlin and Prague more of my time, too. The trip I just took only allowed me a couple of days in each city, which was not enough.

Montana (cause I don’t have enough time now to do all the stuff I have equipment for), New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, British Columbia, the US and British Virgin Islands.

Why? - fish, hunt, hike, sea kayak, sail, ski, snowboard and eat a whole lot of seafood.

I would never bother going to Europe or the US east of the Mississippi or any town with more than 50,000 people.

Rome.

Ever since I read The Master of Rome series I’ve been hot to go. It’s amazing to imagine buildings and structures from 2000 years ago can still be seen and touched and walked into and around.

How can I pick just one place? There are so many places in the world I want to go! Right now I have travel books on my coffee table for Ireland, Greece, Germany, and Southern Spain, all of which I hope to visit someday (soon), and I’m just about to buy the tickets for a trip to Paris in December. Then there’s China, Thailand, Peru, Belize, Kenya, the Caribbean, the South Pacific…a million places I want to see!

I think, though, that if I had the time and the money and I had to narrow it down, I’d have to visit Australia. I’ve been there before, but that was as a child many years ago. This time I’d take the time to tour the country, plus visit my relatives while I’m there.

The place I’d definitely re-visit (if you don’t count Australia) is Rome. I was there in March, but only for a week. Someday I want at least a month to hang out in Rome and really see everything. Besides, I’ve read the Masters of Rome series since then, too!

Philippines for me. Wonderful people, English is widely spoken, very tasty beer, and thousands of lonely, tropical islands. Put me down for a 6-month stint.

I’d start with the United Kingdom–Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland–and then fly over to Tibet, take a brief visit in India, cruise down the Nile in Egypt, watch penguins and polar bears and icebergs in Antarctica, sail up the Amazon River, visit Australia, New Zealand, and the islands of Oceania, surf in Hawaii, and spend a fabulous week in New York City.

Well, when you do, be sure to get a look at the back; that man has a great ass…

I would love, love, love to go to the British Isles to find family roots and drink some good stout.

I also want to go to New Zealand and Australia … Tristan de Cuhna … Prague … Alaska … India … Spain…

Oh, the list goes on …

Depends on how much time I have, but I’d love to see the Painted Desert and the American Southwest, and I’ve got dreams of just driving around the whole country. It’s equally tempting to go north and get a good view of the Northern Lights. I want to see India. What else… I’ve never been to Spain…

If you liked Rome, you really do have to see the rest of Italy. So much less crowded (except, of course, the other largest cities), different food and wine in each region… I studied and lived in Florence for a month, using it as a base to travel on the weekends.

Even in Florence, if you get out of the tourist core of the city, it has a much nicer feel to it. I loved shopping with the Italian grannys at the outdoor food market near my apartment.

I recommend Positano as well. Definitely a tourist town (but they’re mostly European tourists)… the water, the cliffs, the seafood… it’s great.

Having a passion for foreign language versions of stage musicals, I’d be busy following Phantom, Les Miz and Mamma Mia! around the planet. But my first stop would be the Budapest production of “The Beautiful Game.” The Hungarians know how to do the best musicals the best!

Stay in a suite at the Disneyland hotel and do Disneyland right for almost a week (inlcuding Knotts).

Go to Atlantis resort … Bermuda?

London England for shopping.

Australia for friends.

DisneyWorld for a week next year.

One of those cabins at Yosemite for a week.

Italy and Greece. My best friend has been all over the world and said those were her very favorite places.

I’d also like to see New Zealand to drop in on a cyberfriend who lives there.

wish I had known this when I was in Budapest… I had no idea.

I’ll also say New Zealand. I found the locations used for “The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy absolutely fascinating and would love to visit them (and the rest of the country).

Sydney Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, Switzerland and Hawaii

The Mediterranean basin; I most especially would like to see Knossos.

I’d love to go back to the Weminuche wilderness in Colorado. Only more prepared this time.

One of the following:
[ul]Victoria Falls
[li] A Greek Island[/li][li] India[/ul][/li]
Place I’d return to:
[ul]Teneriff
[li] Norway - northern coast[/li][li] Italy (me), France (wife) :stuck_out_tongue: [sup]Of course, France wins.[/sup][/ul][/li]
[sub]First listed is the answer to question, just so I’m not accused of being wishie-washie.[/sub]

I’d really like to attend the Tomatina festival in Spain - it’s in two days from now. If I had unlimited money, sure I’d drop everything to head to Spain. I’d much rather be covered in tomato guts than working.

I’d also really like to go to Ethiopia. Everything I’ve seen of it look really beautiful, and it’s such an ancient culture.

If I could go back to a place, I’d either go to Vietnam (to see more of each country), or chill out in Naples, Italy. I’d like to see more of West Africa, too.
