Simple question, but I am sure I missed some - feel free to elaborate.
Assuming you can only eat one kind of food for an entire year, which would you choose?
If I didn’t have to pay for it, Japanese. I would literally eat sashimi every day and be very happy; the one time I was in a fancy hotel with meals comped, I ate it every brunch and dinner for four days and still wanted more.
What, by country? Oh, honey, Spanish (take Italian. Add fabada, rice’n’beans, paella, filled omelettes, cocido, baby-animal roasts from Castilla, jamón, calamares a la romana = Greek Kalamari,…) Basically, it would mean No Chinese For You and no BBQ. I’d survive.
I thought it was going to be more by food group, that would be a problem.
I chose Chinese. I once went a week eating nothing but Chinese food when I lived in NYC just for fun, and it was pretty easy.
When I was in junior high, our social-studies teacher was trying to make a point about socialism, and I’m guessing it was the same point he’d tried to make in years past. “Imagine that, for the rest of your life, you have to eat just one type of food.” <long pause> “And not pizza.”
I was all ready to choose “Dairy” but that wasn’t what you were asking.
I barely eat as it is, and what I choose is plain and dull and would make most people cry, so I will happily continue to eat the basic plain stuff that you listed inaccurately as “American”.
Kosher/deli.
I chose Italian, but I’d have voted for German or Polish if they had been there.
Cheese.
Italian if it was forever, Mexican if it’s only for a year.
Indian food is the best food in the world.
My favorite cuisine is Chinese, but I don’t think I could take it exclusively for a full year. I know I could take Italian.
Chinese by far. And I mean real Chinese food, not what we get here. Specifically, spicy, fresh and delicious Sichuan food.
I lived there for two years and I adored everything I ate. I never felt healthier and every meal was so delicious (and cheap) that it made me feel blessed.
Cajun for me.
The possibilities are endless with all of them, but I pick Chinese.
My definition of Hell would be having to live on Japanese food for a day, much less a year. Ditto Indian.
Hmmm…with a little rules-lawyering, I might just switch my vote to French. After all, it doesn’t specify what region or anything, as even sven noted. Rustic French cooking is the best in the world.
I went with French, since that could be a lot of things.
American. i could eat barbeque until the day i die.
German
I was about to vote for Indian or Thai, but then I wondered: what am I eating for breakfast? Anyone?
