I’m referring to shock rocker/golf playing conservative guy Alice Cooper, not the namesake of Arlo Guthrie’s signature tune. My new office is a block north of America West Arena and just the other side of that is Alice’s sports/rock themed restaurant Cooper’stown. I usually order the No More Mr. Nice Guy Chicken chipolte pasta but felt like the Megadeath meatloaf today. Yummmm-meeee! A most interesting presentation, it was served on a hunk of Texas toast with a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes on top and smothered in gravy and bacon bits like big brown a sundae on a plate. The only serious drawback is that there wasn’t any bread left at the end to sop up the gravy and I thought my lunch date might have considered it a tad gauche for me to lick the plate clean.
Unfortunately I missed the haunted house and I know it had to be spectacular. The resturant is pretty nice, on the corner of Jackson and 1st street opposite the sports arena parking structure. Your basic big noisy sports bar with either rock music playing or a game on multiple TVs and a video wall behind the bar. Food and service have always been good when I’ve been there. The wait staff all have Alice style eye makeup on but it’s a pretty straightforward place.
How far will you have to drive to get here? I was just emaling dopers Strainger, Mauvaise and Winnowill to see about a mini get-together before Christmas.
