You did the fuckin schedule!

I’ve had a long busy weekend. Saturday night, I closed, and didn’t get out of work until about 3:30 in the morning. 6:30 am, i had to be back to meet for this Ronald McDonald House walkathon I had to go to as the “Ambassador” of my store. Sunday night I closed, and this morning I had to be back at 9 am for a manager’s meeting. I’ve gotten maybe 8 hours of sleep since Friday. My store manager called me yesterday morning before I went to the walkathon, telling me that I shouldn’t go, and couldn’t I just send them the money I collected and not walk? That kinda defeats the purpose babe. I told her 3 weeks ago I had this thing on sunday morning, and I’d need Sat night off. She told me I’d be able to handle it, and scheduled me anyways. That’s fine, I can deal. It’s not like I sleep anyways. But don’t bitch at me because you screwed up. So she cut my hours back last night, and told me I wasn’t allowed to go to the meeting today. I’m not ALLOWED to go to a mandatory meeting…nice. so out of stubbornness, I got my butt up at 8:15 this morning, and made the drive to work. And she bitched the whole time, because I shouldn’t be there. And now, I’m exhausted, so I think I’ll go take me a nap.

OK, so she schedules you late Saturday, knowing you had to do this thing Sunday. You’re doing this thing for the store. Then (I’m assuming) she wanted you to actually work instead of go walk Sunday morning, after she had already scheduled you to close Saturday. Then you closed Sunday anyway. Then she punishes you for it? And then when you show up like you’re supposed to she bitches about it?

Honey, time to look for a new store. If you were not only willing to close Saturday and then get up and do something voluntarily that benefits the store Sunday morning and then work later that day, you should be getting Employee of the Month, not bitched at for showing up when you’re supposed to.

Hear, hear.

You’d think people with a work ethic like you apparently have would be snapped up into higer paying service jobs like hotcakes.

Oh what a wonderful store manager you have. I assume this person got promoted because she successfully kissed ass.

At my KMart, scheduling was done by this woman who was like 70 years old who just couldn’t get anything right. Some days she’d schedule 17 or 18 cashiers and then the next day it would be 10. She often put people on the wrong weekdays when they couldn’t work, and she always blocked time (meaning she gives like 4 days in a row, then gives you 3 days off, etc…) Once she tried to convince me that from 10 AM to 8 PM was nine hours  .

Like the others said, get a new job if you can.

I don’t get it. First the manager tried to get you out of the walk thing but you went anyway. Then the manager tried to get you out of the meeting, but you went anyway.

Sounds like you’re devoted and all; that’s great. But it also sounds like you went to the walk thing and the meeting because you wanted to, not because either was “mandatory”.

Bill, I don’t see where Pammipoo was claiming otherwise. She made the commitment to do the walk and she did it despite her schedule. Her manager then told her she was not allowed to attend a meeting that was mandatory for managers. Pammipoo saw it as her responsibility as a manager to attend regardless of how much sleep she had. She did the responsible thing and her boss bitched at her for it. The boss is at fault. People wonder why they can’t find good help–if you expect the least from people, don’t be surprised when that’s all you get.

I swear that if someone started a thread on “Grass is green” there would be, within 48 hours, a Doper arguing for Red as the colour of grass.

In a recent thread also dealing with the mysteries of fast food operations** loislane138** had experienced what seemed to be unreasonable anger on the part of a patron, and whinged a bit about it, as you do. Another Doper said

I think this is my benchmark for “the grass is red” type statements. It’s easy to say, is impossible to prove or disprove, and doesn’t actually contribute anything except to say “you are almost certainly wrong”. You can say it of any event, to any poster.

We weren’t there, don’t understand the complexities, Pammi honey, if you say your store manager is a bitch and an idiot, that’s good enough for me. True, she may have lost her children in a fire that afternoon, but why should you suffer?

I just pray she ends up in an episode of South Park.

Got it. So if I see you posting “Grass is Red”, I’ll be sure to post “{{{Redboss}}}”. Thanks.

Amen, Redboss. I was just thinking about that very idea last night while perusing some threads here. Some people argue either just to argue or just to be contrary.

That’s not true!

Pamm, I agree…find a new store, if you can…or a new manager.
