What the hell were you thinking!? What in the name of all that is good and just made you think, “Ooh, look, a blind turn which is plenty wide enough for two cars if I stay to the right, but what the hell, lets live on the edge and drive to the left!” Well, it is all well and good for you. You were driving a Ford Ranger. Your car has a bent bumper. Meanwhile my little Mazda 323 is a crushed chunk of scrap metal that was worth much more whole then crunched.
So, your car is fine and running, while my car is toast, and I can’t afford to get a new one which is half as good. Why does it seem like the lesson was a little lost on you? Why do I have to pay the price because you have the intelligence of a yak!?
Okay, so I am not very good at ranting.
*On a side note, why is it that car always get crunched right after you fill the tank. Happened that way with me, my SO, and my father.
See, this is why I always drive until I’m running on fumes, squeezing every last drop out of my tank. The more time I spend on a nearly empty tank of gas, the lower my chances of being in a serious accident are. Why does my wife refuse to acknowledge this?
Well, at least he was willing to admit that it wasn’t my fault. I mean, it was pretty obvious, but I did take a lot of pictures and called the Highway Patrol to do a report.
This guy was trying to get sympathy from me, though. He was like, “Man, I was just going to paint that car, and now I have to buy a new bumber.” I was so mad about that. I am sorry, but he did not get the short end of the stick here.
Another annoying thing about all this was that when CHP got there, the officer shows up, and he is says, “Well, what do you want me to do?”
“Ummm… write a report.”
“About what?”
“Well, how about saying that he was on the wrong side fo the road.”
“Well, it is a one lane road.” (which is technically true, but there is plent of room for two cars around that turn, we were directing traffic around it while waiting for the CHP to get there.)
“Okay then, how about saying that he was farther to the left then he should have been.”
“Okay, if that is what you want.”
“Yes, that is what I want.”
I mean, this officer was so annoying. Why was I telling him how to write the report, or to write one at all. Isn’t it required that they write a report on any accident that they are called to?
Arg…but there was no way that I was not going to have a report on this for my insurance. I really hope this doesn’t make it go up.
Whether it’s a one lane road or not he should get written up for failure to keep right. The road I got into an accident on was a no-lane road (unmarked, I mean), and the other guy got a ticket for failure to keep right.
Well, since the CHP was reluctant to even write a report, I KNOW that he didn’t get a ticket. Sigh.
Oh, and I also hurt my neck. Had to go to the ER, where they say, “Sorry, your neck is hurt, but there isn’t really anything we can do about it.” Oh well, at least it is on record that I was injured.
Now I must go to class and pretend that I have a ride home. Sigh.
