“Ulsterisation” was the term the Brits used for turning over control of day-to-day security matters to the RUC and UDR (and we all know how well that worked  ). So it’s not difficult to see how they came up with “Iraqiisation”, though admittedly it doesn’t flow nearly as well.
It’s a perfectly cromulent word!
<hides face in shame>
Hey, the President can do whatever the hell the President wants to do.
Just ask him. He’ll tell you.
I see, so Gorilla, could you say this word then came about evolutionarily.
I never knew that…thanks. And inspired by that, I see that ‘Vietnamization’ (American Z) gets 11300 hits. And ‘Iraqiization’ gets 13. And ‘Americanization’ 84000.
Ewwwwwwww…I feel unclean just typing those things.
Iraqicize.
Iraqicize.
Why does that evoke the image of Baghdad Bob sweatin’ to the oldies?
Yeah yeah yea… …At least that one’s in the dictionary
BTW, ruadh, I know I quoted you, but I was jus’ playin’ with GMan! And also ruadh, whenever I see your user name…I always think of that part in “Black Sheep” where Spade and Farley are in the car…sniffing the leaking nitrous…looking over a map…and they think “road” is a funny word…“road. ruuuude. row-add. rue-ed.” heh.
It’s a traveshamockery!
It comes from “Vietnamization”, which was used during that war to denote the idea of transferring military responsibility from US troops to their Vietnamese counterparts. I only wish we were actually doing that in Iraq…
Yes, and some of us remember how well “Vietnamization” worked out.
My disgusting new favorite word is “liaising”. It’s the verbification of “liaison”.
Impactful, ain’t it?
I’ve used “liaising” for years (like, back when I actually used to do it … har har har).
One of my former, er, liaisons accidentally came up with the word “belignorant”, which I think would be quite useful in certain situations.
As I read the OP, I wonderized how embiggened this threadilization would growify before someone said that. I predictified seven replyicates. You accomplitated it in two.
I like “debaathification,” though . . . Can we keep “debaathification?”
“Debaathification” sounds like a ritual cleansing after meeting up with Cthulu.
That’s nothing, compared to four google hits for LIAISATION
ugggh
Just another example of Bush’s Presidiotcy.
Making up words, but but that’s unpossible.
This entire administration is a Duke-tastrophe of epic proportions.
