June 23, 2001: History was made as an amazingly beautiful lady actually agreed to marry me. She was wearing a kickass gown, she was a vision of lovelyness. I, of course, was GORGEOUS!
Special thanks go to the best man: He flawlessly performed the most important duty of the best man: Keeping me from running out of the church screaming. No, seriously, he tripped as we were walking from the alter after the ceremony, and he claims that the main duty of the best man is to draw the bad luck into himself, thus saving the new bride any potential embarrasment. Bubble Girl and I are both thankful for his selfless sacrifice and entertaining fall.
(Before I go any further, that part about me running from the church screaming was a joke. I’ve never wanted anything more in my life than to say “I do” while looking in her eyes.)
The reception was very nice, with all sorts of grub (Including some unintentionally hot chicken wings. you could tell who couldn’t handle hot foods by the whimperings of “The chicken is HOT!” and “MY face! It’s melting!”).
We just got back from the honeymoon: We stayed in Galveston, at The Mermaid And The Dolphin. This was a bed and breakfast in a converted Victorian two story, with a tropical garden and hot tubs in the back, and a claw foot tub in the room and an outdoor spa on our balcony. A shout out to The M. And The D. for having the balcony screened off from outside viewing with trellises and climbing vines. Awww yeah.
Galveston’s got plenty to do, and we managed to do a lot of it, including taking a caradge ride through the historical downtown area (Staring Don The Wonder Horse!), the Duck Tour (converted WWII amphibious transport driving the streets, then driving into the bay), and visiting the rock pier that we had previously walked on a little over a year ago. I even managed to get a slight tan.
My goal now: Saving up so we can go on a cruise by our fifth anniversary!
Hey, congratulations you two! I know there was a lot of work and hassle leading up to the wedding. Glad you got the “hard part” over with and can just focus on enjoying each other now.
Thanks for the kind replies, everybody! The film is gonna be developed early next week, so we should have the pictures online the weekend after the 4th.
Demo: You don’t know the HALF of it! The thing is, we got all the problems and hassles over with before the wedding, as opposed to DURING it, so in the end, it’s all good.
Sealemon has finally let me come up for air so I thought I would add my two cents to this.
Other than my original wedding dress being ruined nine days before the ceremony, the ring bearer being hit by a drunk driver three weeks before (Thank God he is ok,) having to go out and buy all new accessories since the new dress was white and the old one was ivory and buying a new flower girl dress since the same seamstress that ruined my dress made the flower girl dress entirely to small and dyeing my hair purple  two nights before the wedding (I fixed it though) I would have to say the wedding itself went perfectly.
I wouldn’t have done it any differently just as long as the outcome was the same. I married a wonderful man who treats me like a queen, just like I deserve. After a nice, relaxing few days in Galveston we are now back home and to work. Thanks everyone!
