How stupid can a person get? Someone want to tell me why this bitch can get away without even a slap on the wrist? I can’t even get thru with a fucking fingernail file without getting a cavity check and she only gets the gun confiscated?!?!? Must be nice.
Now, forgetting that you have a pocket knife when you go to the store is one thing… forgetting a gun when you’re at an AIRPORT is just… well… I hope she had a WHOLE lot of troublesome thoughts on her mind at the time, 'cuz otherwise, that’s just silly.
She was coming to work, not attempting to board a plane. There’s a WORLD of difference. Not the least of which, I will dangerously assume, her extensive criminal background check has been completed by competent law enforcement.
As the article clearly points out, there was no intent. Without intent, criminal punishment is difficult at best.
You trade your 4th amendment rights for the privlege of turning a 9 hour drive into a 3 hour flight. This is the reality.
I have a concealed carry permit and I carry regularly, “forgetting” you are carrying a gun is impossible (or at the least astoundingly stupid), this ignint bitch deserves what she gets and more, she gives the rest of us (armed citizens) a bad name.
Didn’t remember that she had a .38 semi-auto in her purse? I think it’s safe to say that just before the gun was placed in her handbag, someone first shot the dots off of her dice.
When I approach an airport, praying to Jesus for my soul to keep, I obsess over whether my pack of gum is in the right place with my lighter and cigars. I don’t want to hold up the line, let alone be beeped while going through the metal detector.
I worry about the fly on my jeans and the buttons on my parka. A gun, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
A lawyer once left a handgun under the passenger seat of my car.
As I parked my car next to a federal courthouse having a militia trial, reaching for some papers, I saw it under the seat. Doubletake. Then, I realized I had forgotten something and drove home.
Yes, a lawyer. Yes, a handgun. Yes, it was loaded. No, he never mentioned he was putting it there. No, I did not know he ever brought it in my car, or that he owned one. Egads. They had SNIPERS on on the roof of the courthouse.
Yeah, but you’re forgetting the important cue buttonjockey308 mentioned that you have and this person did not – getting on an aircraft. She was just going to work. In the weeks after 9-11, I from time to time forgot to check my gun in with personnel (weapons are banned by my employer).
Something similar to the OP happened to my mom. She was going to the airport to give her husband his gun, which he had forgotten. A little mixup as to where to meet occurred and sure enough, mom runs her purse though the x-ray with the damn gun in it.
Fortunately, this occurred during a happier (pre-9-11) time, so her husband showed up, the gun was handed over and everyone lived happily ever after.
Wow. Just wow. If you DON’T KNOW that you have a gun on you, you have a severe case of the stupids, and therefore have absolutely NO business carrying a concealed weapon. At all.
This broad should get fired, lose her security clearance (if she had one), and have her CCW permit revoked ASAP. Period.
Well, I have been known to end up in a building where I was really not suppiosed to be armed. Happens rarely because most places I go, being armed is OK and so, although I never forget I’m armed, I sometinmes forget where I’m not supposed to be.
That said, when I see metal dectors or folks with wands, I like to think I would make the connection very easily and quickly and do an about face. Never had to so far.
