You gotta love the stupidity of our government

No, no it doesn’t. Would it kill you to tell us what the link is about or even cut and paste a paragraph? Or are you too lazy? Or is cut & paste beyond your skill set?

They (the raptors) don’t like being stuffed into a hat either. They tend to get surly and uncoopereative about it. And then there is the high price of “it ate the audience” insurance too.

You didn’t say anything, there is nothing to refute.

This

Well, guess what? Not that I asked them to, but to date NO one has refuted me. There’s been a bucket of name-calling, but that is not refutation. And there is really nothing to refute. It happened and it was a stupid thing for the government to do. Period.

What it boils down to is this: I pointed out one single example of what I considered to be government running amok. As I mentioned earlier, it was so far over the top that it stood out among all the stupid things the government does these days. But I’m conservative, so the liberal crack parrots that infest this board promptly jumped on my ass. If one of them had posted it, everyone else would be lining up to say what a wonderful post it was; yep, yep, primo example of the stupidity of our government in action.

Well, depending on what you’re asserting, either the thread is asinine (if you’re asserting that government regulations often hit things other than their intended targets or that this was some massive injustice towards Mr. Bunnypuller) or you’ve been fucking trounced (that this is some example of how stupid the government is).

Oh wait. Thread title: “You gotta love the stupidity of our government.”

Obviously, if you don’t post anything, there’s nothing to refute, but somehow in a one-liner and a link to the Blaze, you somehow still pulled it off. Congrats, Humpy. You’re still the funniest fucker on SDMB.

What, pass a clearly useful and sensible law about taking care of animals used in the workplace and enforce it uniformly in a way that is not a gigantic inconvenience for anyone, least of all this magician? Yeah, that does sound stupid.

Wait, no.

Back up.

What’s that word that is the approximate opposite of stupid?

Oh right. Smart.

No, you provided a blatantly idiotic example of an unintended consequence of the consequential and uniform execution of a law that has literally been around for longer than my mother has been alive. And yeah, given that literally everything you say is a fucking comedic gold-mine of stupidity, we’re gonna jump on that ass pretty fast, because otherwise we’ll be beaten to the punch.

Well, let’s be fair - none of them have the track record of being right about as often as a coked-up soothsayer.

Refuted what? You haven’t made any arguments?

You’ve said “stupidity/stupid” and you’ve said “asshole” but was there other name calling?

There’s that word again.

How is it running amok (and did you say that earlier in the thread?) Make your argument and we’ll talk about it like big boys. You posted an article. We’ve laid out our hand, now tell us why we’re wrong. Why is this an example of the government run amok? You should probably keep in mind that in this specific example, the one you chose, the government specifically said that they are leaving most everything up to the people housing the animals. No guidelines, no paperwork to fill out, they just want you to have something in mind (and on paper) for what to do in case of an emergency. Can you tell me why that’s a prime example of the government run amok?

ETA, I see other people did call you Humpy a few times, but you’re the one that used the term asshole.

[Moderating]
Normally, we require more commentary for a Pit thread than just a bare link. However, given the direction this thread has already taken, I’m going to let mob justice take care of this one. Have fun, kids, and remember to sweep up the teeth when you’re done.

Why does one have asterisks around it?
Do you hate Jesus?

Asshole

You haven’t asserted anything, so you’re (accidentally) right; there isn’t anything to refute.

This has got to be the worst example of government run amok in the history of amok-running. If President Obama ran around the White House with a pair of children’s scissors, we’d have a better case. And a damn fine YouTube video to boot.

Reminds me of my favorite example of a government worker screwing around on the job: my old biology teacher said to one of his 9th-grade students, “If you graduate on time, I will ride my bike into the lake behind the school”. Sure enough, three years later, he did, and it landed on youtube. A finer moment of German education, to be sure.

I’m not absolutely certain, but it think it’s symbolic.

Symbolic of him not being able to figure out how to code for conventional emphasis effects.

And now I feel kinda bad for joining in the pile-on. That’s not who I want to think I am… :frowning:

Aww, screw it. You know what, Clothy? You’re okay. I say that not because I find you particularly astute, but because you’re a Doper, and that counts for a lot.

Cheers, mate!

I’m not sure what you are bitching about. The basis for the law clearly comes from Genesis 1:26. Laws based on the Bible. That’s what you conservatives have been longing for, right?

But fuck it, you know what the proper response is to this should be. Magicians should go all John Galt on us and disappear. Surely society will grind to a halt in short order.

I’m thinking it’s worse than that zoid. We’re talking serious , turn away type depravity. When you do a one like this with the squiggly ends, it kinda looks like a caterpillar humping the words below it ( Or maybe above…I can’t tell for sure).

I think we have a … bug molester on our hands.

I’m going to go read The Blaze and see what Glen has to say about Jesus hating insect fornicators …

I’m thinking it’s a cancer in the heart of America. Or the pancreas. Or some other really important organ I don’t remember the name of from when we cut the frog open in high school. Maybe Glen will draw it out on his chalkboard for us during his radio show.

Pretty much my view. Any well-meaning law is probably going to hit some edge cases where it looks stupid. Big fucking deal.

Dental hygiene, Texas style!

That’s a miss. Clothahump is not a religious conservative and has stated his opposition to enacting religion based laws.

Well, OK. Perhaps I should keep a scorecard so I can start telling them apart. Clothy, he’s against hippies, right?
