Well, I am back from work, beerverage is poured and steak is broiling.
FCM, you thought your animals worked? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
Jahdra, those are…interesting.
kai, sorry you are stuck with V… Could you stake her out and leave her for the bears? Callaloo looks like Lucretia’s cousin in that pic. Does she like fire, too?
Good luck with the drugs, rosie!
Cite?
Taxi, I’m so sorry about Nikita. ![]()
I like the one with the hat, scarf and mittens all in one–you’d never lose your mittens!
kai, I’m sorry you have to deal with V. She needs a cute little fluffy kitty, right? One with really sharp claws and a bad attitude.
Taters, I hope things get better at work. Hang in there!
you all have GOT to see this. Just put your beverage down first.
I actually just spent the better part of twenty minutes searching my pictures for an accurate portrayal of my ass. Alas, this is just one of those things you’re going to have to take on faith.
Hey all,
I’ve only read the first and last page of this thread because I too think I have The Sick. I thought it was allergies for a while, but the aches are coming on, so ugh! I’m still hoping that it’s just allergies but I’ve been drinking Airborne and Jamba Juice Cold Busters to try to ward it off.
Just wanted to let everyone know I’m thinking about them but don’t feel up to responding.
I’m back from the Stitches market! And I didn’t blow my budget. In fact, I’ve only spent half of it. That means I get to go back tomorrow afternoon after class! It was fun, I have plenty for the MMP already, and the weekend hasn’t even started yet. No cameras were allowed in the market, so you’ll have to settle for what I actually bought. And I bought a little bit of this, some of that, and a lot of that other. In fact, I think I should have bought more of that other…
Feel better, roo. Good luck tomorrow, rosie. Cooking’s a matter of taste, drae. If you like to eat, you can learn to be a good cook. If you don’t, well, you end up like my nana and none of your children, grandchildren, or friends will allow you to cook for the holidays anymore. So there’s an upside, either way.
obligary drunken.stoned poist about how I love you all !!! tteehee
I would like to point out that tossing V into a crabpot sounds like cruelty to animals. What have the poor crabs done to you, eh?
Spats, several of my classmates dated TAs, but except for one (and that wasn’t really “dating”, more like “several hours of keeping the big ladies’ locked while panting noises were heard, during a concert”) they had the brains to not actually start dating until the course was over. Previously they just blushed and stammered a lot, but blushing and stammering ain’t against the rules. Oh, and the panter? Apparently that TA didn’t just fuck anything with a dick and a height over 6’, she also had a VD and refused to believe it because she was asymptomatic. Helluva gal, remind me not to get a job involving any cunts like her(s).
Best wishes all around, they appear generally needed.
Shhhh! Haze is feeling a bit delicate…
Yay! It’s Friday! Is it hometime yet?
Those of you with The Sick, get well soon, having that stuff isn’t fun and I don’t want any of it. No! Keep it away, you hear?
Kai - sorry to hear you’ve been having such a hard time. V sounds like an excellent candidate for a long swim with the fishies. If J isn’t answering your calls, maybe you could get a letter to him instead and explain things?
Other than that, it’s not very exciting here…tea, that’d be good.
Good morning. It’s truck day at work, then laundry. My Knights of Columbus council is doing a fish fry tonight. We had a bit of a cool down, it’s only supposed to be 55 today, down from yesterday’s 70.
Home again, and I can’t believe I’m up. I was feeling pretty decent yesterday afternoon, although I didn’t feel much like having dinner. Then around 9 or so, The Sick settled in my gut and between 10 and 2, I was in and out of the bathroom. I even went to the family room to watch TV so I wouldn’t disturb FCD, but I ended up taking the idiot dogs out 3 different times.
I finally crawled back into bed, and once the electric blankie warmed my side sufficiently, I fell asleep. In no time at all, the alarm went off for **FCD ** to get up, and shortly thereafter, Miss Brandy started walking on my pillow, trying to get me to let her under the covers. So I gave up in disgust and came on line.
I’m exhausted. My head is stuffed up and my nose is snuffly. My throat hurts. I’m hungry, but I’m afraid to eat. Maybe some tea?
I’m hoping in a little bit, I can crawl back in bed and get some rest. For the record, I *hate * The Sick.
Well, that was fun. Miss Brandy exacted her revenge in the form of cat hork on the living room rug. FOUR places!!!
Stoopit cat.
Meanwhile, I have a mug of tea and a couple of hard-cooked eggs.
I shoulda stayed in bed…
Jah your post gave me the giggles. Alaska is a big place with few people, very much wild and wooley. I have known and known of people who have dissapered, never to be seen, heard from, or found. I truly know of stories where bad folks have been stuffed in crab pots and dropped with no bouy attached, gone out on boats and “fallen” overboard, to be recovered after they were no longer revivable. I know a woman who stabbed her husband to death when she was caught by him while she was in flagrante delicto with his brother, and got off on a battered woman defense, although it was common knowledge that she used to beat him, not the other way around. I know a guy in the village who was having an affair with a girl who had been working for him at his lodge. When she wrote a note exposing the affair to his wife and then attempted to kill herself she did not do a very good job with the bullet placement. He found her first, and administered the fatal bullet. This last story I know because my very good friend is the “law” in the village, and he told me. My point is that, yeah, we have the “needed killin’” action here. Frankly V isn’t worth the effort. I just need to always remember that she is poison. Excellent recommendation though!
gt V will get what she deserves, which is a shunning. It’s such a small town, and too many people have been burned by her. It won’t be long before she has no one to talk to. She has been talking about moving back to Portland, Oregon, and I think that would be wonderful for Kodiak. I am concerned about J,as he has gone underground, so to speak, and no one has heard from him in almost a week. A little backstory, his mother died when he was a young kid, and his father died just a couple of weeks ago. I am worried about his state of mind. Not that I think he would harm himself, but just that he is hurting and not seeking solace from the people who love him the most.
As unhappy with my arm pain, I wouldn’t wish Calalloo on V. It was my fault in that I was trying to examine Cally, who has a small bare spot on her neck, and she didn’t wish to be examined. Besides, V has a very anti social Bengal who wounds her on a regular basis.
Nava the crabs need to eat too, so they get nice and full so I can eat them! Also, why don’t you have a nick? I need to thrash through my spanish vocab and see if I can come up with something appropriate!
boofae I wouldn’t begin to know where to send a letter to J, this town is small enough that if one is looking for someone the best place to go is the grocery, at some point everyone turns up there! He may be up in Anchorage though, and there are people keeping an eye out for him there, as well as we here on The Rock. My friend S seems to think he has just gone to ground to heal his wounds, I am hoping that she’s correct.
Drae you crack me up! Not too long ago a Filipina I am friends with brought me some filipino dish, but was concerned that I might be allergic to some foods. I looked her in the eye and asked her if I look as if I am allergic to food! It was delicious, and I am hoping that she decides to share some more of her country’s cuisine.
doggio yes, Calalloo likes fire. I have to watch her whenever I burn candles. I had forgotten until this evening that when she and her brothers first arrived she had killed Billy, punctured his head and killed him. [font] Billy was a four foot tall inflated alien my daughter had won at Crab Fest!
rosieposie you are in my thoughts and prayers regarding your medical treatment. It sounds as if you are tolerating it well. Take care.
The update on my arm; it’s not as swollen as it was, it still hurts and itches and is still weepy and angry red. Being diabetic I don’t heal very quickly, but I cleaned it out again, and skiffman bought some new neosporin which helps…a little…with the pain and itching. If it is not significantly better by Monday, or if it turns ugly over the weekend, I will see the doc. He’s a good guy with a prediliction to give me shots in the hiney which hurt but heal me quickly!
Upon preview have fun at the fish fry doggio! Our temps have dropped back into the teens and twenties. Clear skies and sun are all well and good, but the cloud cover helps keep the warmth in. I suppose that means we can’t win for losing. sigh Ah well, each day is one day closer to spring.
Poor FCM, you have my full sympathies. I, too, hate The Sick. Loll about, watch some movies, read a book, pamper yourself with long naps and equally long hot baths/showers (the latter help keep the mucus moving out of the body) and I hope you are back to your own self in short time!
Well, I just had to re-wrap my arm, kinda hard to do alone, but I didn’t want to wake skiffman just for that. The itching is maddening, and I am not a good patient. What I want to do is rip the bandages off and lay in with my nails and give it a good scratching. However, knowing that would be counter productive to healing I am doing my best to refrain. I would never declaw a cat, but miss Calalloo may find herself getting a manicure/pedicure with the nail clippers. I’ll have #3 hold her while I do it, she has a way with the beasties in the house.
I also have some interesting geneaology information to share, but this post is too long already, so I will write more later. Or perhaps I ought to think about volunteering for an MMP OP. No no no, I am thinking about it, not volunteering yet! Right now I need to try and get some sleep, as Alaska time is currently 2:26 am.
Good morning.
When the alarm went off this morning, I thought “why is that damn thing going off on a Saturday?” I am mostly dressed, and semi-awake. I’d still be in bed, slapping the snooze bar, were it not for Van Morrison’s Moondance playing when the 6:38 snooze was over.
anyway, after my fix, I go off to the salon, then to a Chinese New Year dinner, where by best friend’s martial arts troupe does the Lion Dance. Wheeee!
Happy Friday, and in case you didn’t see it last night, get your giggle on. ![]()
Funny video, rosie. That’s one determined cat.
Feel better, FCM!
So Hank, are the next 5 pages done yet?
Gotta get ready for work.
GT
Good luck Rosie with the treatment.
FCM I too recommend hot showers/baths. They do wonders for achy, stuffy/congestion.
kai maybe you could start a drive to collect money for a one way ticket to Portland. Sounds like just the thing to make Kodiak a better place. Here’s hopin’ you hear from J soon.
doggio, fish fry, nummm! Here in south Jawja, fish fries include cheese grits. I thought it was tres weird at first, but now I can’t imagine fried fish without 'em. And hushpuppies. Golden brown, crunchy, oniony hushpuppies. Ima stop before I drool on my keyboard.
So, Haze…
HOW’S THE HEAD THIS MORNIN’???
Appropriate noises made in the direction of all concerned…
Gah, yesterday SUCKED! Interrup… excuse me, MBG, could you handle this instead of what you’re doing right now???
Like that - all day.
Today, I’m all over town, but I’ll keep an eye on y’all from time to time.
I’m foreign, I’m allowed to ask stoopit questions…what are hushpuppies?
Mmm - hushpuppies! They are a type of fried cornbread, with onions and seasoning. I think the name came from throwing a few to the dogs so they would shut up while you ate the fish!
Happy Friday, everyone!
Kai, here’s hoping that V gets the hell out of Dodge and J shows up soon. I’m sorry you had to go through that, and I’m sorry about your arm! Keep an eye on it. Cat scratches can get septic in a hurry.
Feel better soon, all you sickies! I’m feeling better after a restless night. Mr Rebo kept sneezing (allergies) all night, so between that and my night sweats, I didn’t sleep too well.
I am caffeinating and getting things ready so I can work. Like checking my email, and catching up on the MMP!
Tonight I am making Shrimp Etoufee and Dirty Rice. Ooh-wee!
