You idiots buzzed WHAT in NYC?

I can assure you the “dumb end of the bell curve” in New York City is not “heavily armed.”

Uhhh… I respectfully disagree. They’re practically the ONLY ones who are armed. At all.

No worries. As dumb as they NYC incident was, I should hope they at least kept it under 750mph.

Oh…so the dumb end of the bell curve in NYC are the politicians and their bodyguards? Alright, that makes sense now that you mention it.

I’m really fucking mad at this, and I hope Caldera and/or whoever else screwed up is given some serious flak for this bullshit move. Those poor people downtown. Many of us still get anxious when we hear normal planes flying relatively close on their way to landing at LaGuardia – I can’t even imagine what it must’ve been like for those in the buildings hearing that familiar roar and shaking window panes. Looking at the image of the plane near the office building is eerie; looks little different from the infamous shots of the plane hitting the second Tower. It makes me nauseous.

First politicians use 9/11 for political gains whenever possible, then others insult New Yorkers as not being “real Americans” because we’re East Coast liberals, then still others swing back and buzz us with their stupid fucking jets to show how macho they are and sell some trinkets. Just leave NYC out of your goddamn photo ops, okay? Christ.

And to the (blessedly few) folks saying “oh, tempest in a teapot, who cares, just some gullible idiots got nervous” – when was the last time two similar jumbo jets crashed into your city and wreaked havoc, death, injuries and destruction?

At least they didn’t hold it at the same time as Surprise Fireworks Day.

Also, I’m loving the headlines (‘Scare Force One’? Genius!).

I’m sorry, but that’s hilarious

If they had to do this, they should have done it on April 1st…

Apparently you don’t have a clear sense of who is and isn’t armed in NYC.

Why don’t you tell me then? Who is and isn’t armed in NYC? And who among them is armed legally or illegally?

I was talking to my class about this today (I teach a bunch of high school freshmen) and they said the following gem of wisdom that hadn’t even occurred to me: “Why wouldn’t they just Photoshop it? I mean, it has to be cheaper than flying two planes all day anyway.”

And this, friends, is why our government has no money. :stuck_out_tongue:

Several (many) people had to be in the “approval cycle”, meaning there SHOULD have been ample opportuinity for someone (anyone) to jump up and say “this is a stupid fucking idea”. So, a LOT of people were not thinking.

What a bunch of pussies you Americans are

The next serious terrorist attack on your shores is not going to be an aircraft flown into a building; or if it is then it won’t be a civilian passenger aircraft. I can’t tell you what I will be because I don’t know - the entire point is that it will be highly imaginative and unexpected.

I saw a survey recently showing Americans are the most frightened people on earth. Maybe this is because you’ve never known real fear.

Well, let’s see. I know Plaxico Burress was armed at one point. I assume many criminals are. Almost 300 people were killed in New York City in 2008 via shooting, so the folks who killed them were armed.

It’s up to you to determine if these people constitute the dumb end of the bell curve in New York or not.

Since “legally” or “illegally” armed wasn’t part of the initial statement/question, I’m ignoring it.

I’m gonna need a cite on this one.

Well, maybe. That and the fact that there are alot of “authorities” that seek to scare the bejeebus out of us for their own ends/profits all day long (ie - the government and the television news). I don’t know how it is in the land of your people, but you have to actively work to avoid the constant sky is falling propoganda. It’s freakin’ everywhere.

(The fact that we fall for these ridiculous scare tactics, I have not enough rollie eyes for.)

Obvious troll is very fucking obvious.

By the “dumb end of the bell curve” the person who originally used that phrase intended it to mean “the people unnecessarily panicked in NYC about the planes flying over.” I think the sentence was “we shouldn’t be basing policy around the people on the low end of the bell curve [i.e. the people who should be freaked out by the planes.]”

So the main segment of society who were afraid of the planes in NYC were criminals and Plaxico Burress?

Elucidator’s comment was just typical “durrr, people with guns are stupid” hyperbole.

Especially since we’ve already seen an example of Obama’s mad Photoshop skillz!
