You know what we need? A "where was that thread/post" thread

Have you ever read a thread or post, then later tried to go back and look for it but you can’t remember where it was and can’t find it? It happens to me a lot, especially when you have dozens of DJT* threads in both P&E and the Pit and you don’t remember where you saw one particular post.

I swear not too long ago there was a thread for things you’ve been doing the hard way for years, and I wanted to post something in it, but after spending about a half hour scrolling back through the last two months in a couple of different forums, I just gave up.

So I’m thinking we need a thread here in ATMB where people can post “Hey, where was that thread…?” questions and other posters can provide a link. Maybe even make it a sticky?

* not going to spell out his name because I don’t want the thread to get auto-tagged.

This one?

Yeah, that’s the one, thanks. Looks like the last post was July 27, so it wasn’t as recent as I thought. I only looked back as far as early August. :man_facepalming:

It also happens a lot to me, because I don’t use the boards by forum; I check “unread” and “new posts” and sometimes “latest posts”, but the only time I notice what forum a thread is in is occasionally when I need to know due to the content of a post I’m thinking of reporting, or due to the content of one I’m thinking of making.

Why not use the rather good board search? I entered “doing the hard way” (a quote from the OP) and got the thread in question as the first match. I don’t see any need for the kind of thread proposed in the OP.

Because my search fu sucks. That’s what you guys are for. :stuck_out_tongue:

Both the in-board search function and searching via Google routinely fail to find threads and posts that I know exist, and in fact fail to match the exact search terms that those threads contain. As for threads that I can’t think of (or misremember) a unique search term for, good luck. Heck yes we need a “where was that thread/post” thread.
