This joke also appeared in an old Pogo comic. I wonder who used it first?

I don’t see Carter banning Trump but he probably won’t want him to be the main speaker. Or he may not speak at all.

We’re getting kind of meta here.
Lenin’s wife wanted him cremated; we all know how that turned out.

Bumped.
A nice article on the Carters and the secrets to their long and happy marriage: Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Share Secrets to 75-year Marriage
Well, one secret to a 75-year marriage is obviously to live a really long time.
“We try to make sure we never go to sleep at night angry at each other,” Carter explains, showing his characteristic grin. “We get angry often, but we try to get over it before we go to sleep.”
I got news for you Jimmy. Rosalynn did not “get over it” for days, sometimes weeks.
If they cremate him, Prince Charming will never be able to kiss him and bring him back to life.
Saw this thread and thought maybe Jimmy had died. Glad that’s not the case (today).
RE: Trump attending the funeral. Do they give ‘Day Passes’ from prison? (wishful thinking)
We also don’t have to worry about the sitting president hypothetical posited in the OP, at least for another 3 1/2 years.
How about “never”? Would never work for you? Yeah… me, too.
I heard talk about August.
Sorry, what?
Are you now or have you ever been married?
I haven’t read the whole thread (although I’m about to), but I suspect that both Barack Obama and Joe Biden are pretty decent people, and won’t use a funeral, any funeral, to “make President Trump sweat.”
Also, if you want to see Obama speak at a funeral, check this out:

In my opinion, for whatever that’s worth, this is one of the greatest speeches ever given by an American president. Or anybody, for that matter.
Not every marriage is the same, not every spouse is the same. So unless you have been personally told this information by Mrs. Carter, you are talking through your hat.
In the 29 years we have lived together, there has been anger and angry words, but the problem never went unresolved for even 24 hours, usually much less.
