You know you're a Doper when....

On a related note, finding out about major news events from the Board before you do from news sites.

When your first, immediate reaction to almost anything is: “Hey, this’d make a great SDMB thread!”

…when you rephrase a previous post, thinking it’s not been said yet, and no one minds

(or they all pounce at once  )

. . . when you read the underlined part, and immediately flashback to “I burning your dog.”

Tripler
You know, I never read that “burning dog” thread. . . :dubious:

… you withhold judgment on something until after you’ve seen what your fellow dopers have to say about it.

… you realize that most of the items on your amazon wishlist are there because of recommendations made by fellow dopers.

… you recognize more Simpsons quotes by reading the Dope rather than actually watching the show.

This one’s a winner for me as well – been there, done that. Of course, now that Jakeline’s a member herself, she can Straight Dope it for me.

So, what is it when you meet your SO because of the SDMB then?

You get annoyed at CNN.com because hovering your mouse over a news story doesn’t give you the beginning blurb.

And yeah. Deathpool. Totally.

Yeah, mine is a new member too. ** Freudian Slip** now rings in at 2 posts. I brought her to the dark side. [DR EVIL=] Mwooohahahahh!! ** Mwoooohahahahhha!!** [/DR EVIL]

You invite someone to “fucko off!”

EXACTLY what I was going to say. But it’s not just CNN: it’s the NY Times, the Washington Post, MyWay… mouse-hovering doesn’t work on any of them, dammit!

… when I’m driving down the highway and grab the note paper and pen to write down an OP I want to start when I get online.

Happens all the time. Sometimes the intervening hours make me come to my senses and I don’t write them. Other times, I do anyway.

You refer to the people you work with as your “cow-orkers.”

Oi, the hovering thing, yeah. Somehow I feel every site I go to should allow me to hover and preview the content before I open it. :smack:

…when you use, or think of using, the phrase “the Teeming Millions” in a non-=SDMB context.
…when you use SDMB HTML coding on another website.
…when you quote the SDMB in some other setting.
…when The Straight Dope is the first item listed in your AOL Favorites box.

When you tell your son (who’s not a Doper) that someone famous died and he asks,“Did anybody have him?”
And you’re not even in the Death Pool.

When the death of someone you only knew by an alias stays on your mind for days.

When you hesitate to post an anecdote because you’re afraid everyone’s tired of hearing that same old story.

You must be so proud!

When you’re p.o.'d at anyone, ANYONE at all, you immediately think “I’ll se you in the pit, Asshat!”

Where you will immediately be jumped on by posters noting your typo. :smack:

Yes on the Deathpool thing. (big one for me)
Yes on the composing of witty threads to things going on around me.
Yes on the screaming of “CITE?!?” (but thankfully, usually only in my head) and the rolling of eyes to crap like “It’s only one molecule away from plastic!”
Yes on getting annoyed that I can’t mouse-hover anywhere else.
