You know you've been SDMBing too much when...

I was annoying family and friends alike for quite a few months with the whole “Ah, they’re 1920’s style death rays”. I could fit it into everyday conversation. I loved it.

When you carry around pen and paper to jot down thread ideas, anecdotes and minor rants…as well the proper forum they should be in.

When you hear a news item and think of <insert username and interest, e.g., Eve and movie history, Annie-Xmas and theatre, lieu and um, bodily stuff, etc.>.

When you check the boards to see if <username> has started a thread about <specialty topic item in the news>.

And are disappointed if they hadn’t.

I don’t know if this falls under SDMB addiction or internet addiction, but…

when you move to click the underlined words on the page of newspaper you’re reading.

You exclaim “Oh, dear Og!” and everyone looks at you with a “WTF?” expression.

Actually, I have found that due to the rolleye smiley, I roll my eyes all the time! Something I never used to do before.

Can’t find my keys in the morning.

My TV show got pre-empted.

Shoelace is undone.

I have to walk all the way across the room to put a CD in the stereo.

Don’t have exact change for the subway.

I hate it!

When your productivity at work falls to ZERO for a complete month, and the only reason you put in some productivity is cos your boss has personally asked you to.

oh, and flamingbananas, I just stole you sig.

You find that when talking to friends you don’t have any amusing anecdotes that don’t begin, “So there was this thread at the Straight Dope . . .”

Thanks, screech-owl

When you hear a news item and your first thought is 'I hope I can start a thread before someone beats me to it." (Do you know Robert Palmer died?)

Would you believe…

I didn’t! I just when and looked it up and… he died in September?! Where the heck was I??

…You spend your valuable time reading all 40+ entries (so far) of a thread describing when you’ve been SDMBing too much…

Wow, that was obvious. Sorry.

I do this over links on other boards, too, wondering where the heck the thread hint is…

I know it’s been a week since someone posted to this thread, but I didn’t check in for a while and I just wanted to mention how astute this particular observation is.

I have one particular friend for whom I’ve actually evolved a hand gesture which conveys the meaning “what I’m about to relate comes to you by way of that message board I spend too much time on.”

No, I’m not kidding.

Nope, but I’ve had dreams about certain Dopers.

Oh you can’t just leave us in suspense.

Why not? Far more fun this way.

I’ll also add that some of said dreams have involved me wearing very short skirts and skimpy tops.

Good lord. This is starting to sound like a really bad porn movie.

Angua: Why is that a knock at the door?
SDMB member: Hello ma’am, I have come to fix your refrigerator.
Angua: Of course, I am sorry about the heat, my thermostat is broken. Let me just bend over in my short skirt and show you the problem.

See, now everyone will think that is what happened unless you tell us the truth, unless of course that was the truth.

Bwahaha! No, that’s not what happened at all. But it was a rather, er, interesting dream, with a Doper I’ve met. On many an occasion.

Tease :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah? And?
He’s not saying that though. :stuck_out_tongue:
