It took me almost 7 years, but I finally cleared the last major hurdle in obtaining a Ph.D. in Geography - today (or rather yesterday, April 20), I successfully passed my final oral examination!! All that’s left is to make some minor revisions to my dissertation, submit it to my advisor for final approval, and get it to the graduate school by the final deadline to graduate this June.
For those fellow dopers who are also working towards their Ph.D.'s, I offer my sincere support and hope that all your hard work and time will pay off as it did for me. Believe me, it’s a great feeling - like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
Of course, I can no longer use the “I can’t, I’m working on my dissertation” excuse any longer.
Um, punny, sweetheart? First, why you think I need assistance is beyond me–and what precisely is it that I would be needing assistance with, anyway? Second, the “Geo” part of my screen name refers to Geology, which, I think it is high time you learned, is an entirely different field from Geography. Pay more attention next time, please.
While I’m here, congrats, eponymous! Grad school is still off in the future for me, but I appreciate the immense amount of work involved.
Damn, I was all ready to ask you about the pain I’ve been experiencing in my pancreas. Oh well. I guess you’ll still come in handy if I ever need a lifeline for Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
Congratulations.
