You must get married in 24 hours

NOT heir or NOW heir?

Anyways, it’s not exactly the same, the time line isn’t as tight, it’s a specific person he has to marry and he get’s the money anyways but that’s the plot for Arthur.

I actually had a coworker ask me about entering a green card marriage with a female friend of his last year. I don’t work there anymore, but I might be able to track Sergei down and tell him I’ve changed my mind, barring she hasn’t been married off yet.

The Doper personal ad idea is brilliant though.

And it’s the exact plot of The Bachelor starring Chris O’Donnell.

Anyway, I’d bribe one of my male friends.

Here’s the other question - do you just have to get married, or do you have to stay married? I can totally see Dopers taking pity on people and marrying them if it’s short-term, and maybe they can get it annulled or whatever. If it’s for the long haul, though, that might be another kettle of fish entirely.

Joey P: not heir, because it’d be too easy to offer someone a big pile of cash on the spot to go get married.

Anaamika: We’ll say short term, because I think the challenge isn’t convincing some to “be married” to you, which can be a meaningless distinction if you’re both otherwise living your own normal lives. Rather, the challenge is convincing someone to marry you right now. I think I could wear someone down over 30 days or so, but if I had to be married by this time tomorrow, I’m not sure how I’d convince someone I wasn’t insane.

I have a friend who’s probably divorced by now. I said “no” before but I’m given to understand it’s an open offer.

It would need to be a soap-opera type situation (death bed fiancée; overseas posting etc) here in order to get the Court to waive the standard requirement to give 30 days’ notice of intention to marry.

Craigslist.

This gal I used to volunteer with chucked her husband and moved to California. I know her dad and like him, so I could probably pull a string or two.
