Some of you may recall my previous thread:

Fuck You, Ad Aware

Long story short: Ad-Aware seemingly hosed my Windows 95 machine. I was internet-less for 3 weeks while I backed up everything and upgraded to Windows XP. Painful.

So now, I just noticed the exact same nastiness on my computer. I hadn’t bothered to install Ad Aware yet, so I gritted my teeth, installed it, and let 'er rip.

4 minutes later, problem all gone, computer all good.

If I had any propensity for prose, I’d give Ad Aware a big sloppy word-kiss. As it is, this post will have to do.

Kudos to all the wonderful people at Lavasoft. :slight_smile:

AdAware and Spybot both rule. My roomie used my brand-new computer and ended up with 6 million (only a slight exaggeration, it was a few thousand) pieces of spyware crap on it. AdAware and Spybot cleaned it out nicely, and I downloaded Spyware Blaster, which hopefully will keep it that way.

I want to include a special tongue kiss for whoever made both CWShredder and Hijack This!, both of which have pulled me out of fixes that Ad-Aware and SpyBot were unable to handle. God Bless you, noble spyware hunters!
