Late last week, a Sydney man out for a walk, carrying his five week old baby, was set upon and bashed by a group of young cowards.
The little girl’s skull was fractured in the attack.
It’s taken me several days to be able to post this. I feel ill when I think of it.
Breaking news on TV now that one person is “helping the police with their enquiries”. May they not only bring all these vermin to justice, but that their new home Long Bay Gaol will be full of really friendly guys who will recognise their faces from TV.

How positively disgusting. I’m hoping these fucks are stupid enough to brag in prison about having injured a baby. I can only wish that someone bashes their heads in too. Those who initiate unprovoked violence are among the lowest of the low.
If I’m not mistaken, “helping police with their inquiries” translates into the American dialect of English as “the police are questioning the suspect.” & “gaol” translates into “jail.”

Yes, my favourite euphemism, that one. Hopefully in this case,“helping the police with their inquiries” will mean an informal interview in the back of the police station too. Not that such things ever happen with New South Wales’ finest, of course…
Actually, the American “jail” spelling is common here now, and “gaol” remains very formal. But “gaol” more readily conveys the 19th century cold, damp, rat-infested life I hope they can expect.
I’m also hoping those parents are able to obtain a civil judgement forcing the assailants to compensate them for all continuing medical expenses related to the injuries they inflicted. I think it would be a nice touch if these thugs had their paychecks garnished for decades to come.

According to the witness who turned in the 23 year old they were not aware that he was carrying a child. Story about arrest. Nice area Mr Carr represents eh…another story
Unfortunately civil damages are hardly ever forthcoming from scum like this. Fortunately both father and daughter will be elligible for victims of crime compensation from the government.
Icey, while I’m almost ready to wish that these thugs experience a dramatic foreshortening of their lives, many young hoodlums eventually grow up and enter the workaday world.
I think it would be quite nice if a hefty civil judgement followed these scumballs around like a bad penny and caused all their earnings to be reduced for years in the future. A decade or two of constrained economic circumstances would be rather fitting punishment for the harm they have done. All of this is, of course, in addition to any hard time they are sentenced to.
A final thing. Baby or not, an unprovoked physical assault is one of the more wicked crimes a person can commit. It is indicative of sociopathic tendencies and such criminals represent a substantial threat to society. One of the linked articles mentions gangs containing 10-14 year old boys. It would seem that a strictly enforced youth curfew is in order. Methinks it would be rather nice to have these sodding little rotters forced to sit at home and inflict themselves on their (all too often) negligent parents.
Well, that could very well be so, especially before the attack, but the report in the newspaper I read yesterday and in one of the links TheLoadedDog provided, mentioned that the baby’s screams could be heard. Baby or no baby, there’s no excuse for attacking another person and kicking them senseless. Anyway, in the end, I just hope Elizabeth has no long term damage caused by these hooligans.
I saw the family on the news tonight. My heart goes out to little Elizabeth and I hope she has a full recovery. I also hope Mr Helping-police-with-their-inquiries squeals like a pig and grasses up all his charming fellow thugs.
