Your chance at fame: Name that cat

Fitting, since the Bianca rooms are where you first got interested in my pussy.

groan

So when do I get to see your pussy?

Please Cranky, don’t condemn any creature just for having a penus. There are those of us with penuses who are still worthwhile life forms.

Cat names are so much fun. I like Chairman Meow. Another winner - Chekov.

Depending on the cat’s personality, this may also be a fit - Cecil.

How about Castle? After all, he got out of a tight spot in that shelter, and that’s what castling in chess does.

How about Food.
It’d sure be funny to be outside calling out for food.

JoeyHemlock beat me to Gambit, so how about N. Pussant?

Blue, for Deep Blue, the chess-playing computer

Katsparov

Chess related: Grandmaster? That’s the only chess-related term I can think of that hasn’t been suggested.

Architecture: Roman, Doric, Corinthian, Ionic, Byzantine, Gothic, Baroque, Palladian

I’ve toyed with the following names for cats: Loki, Damian, Lucifer, Merlin, Wizard, Hades, Vulcan, Zeus.

No case needed!

I’m curious, did you decide yet Cranky?

Regrettably, no. I even started a contest at my office with a MONETARY PRIZE! I have to run the entries by my husband and see if we like any of them enough to settle on them.

For about an hour, the cat was Taliesen, Tal for short, which is both architectural and chess-related, woo-hoo. But it didn’t fit.

I do have a photo, now, to post.

Sorry that’s so long.

I second the motion for Gambit.
Knight’s Gambit? Night Gambit?

Arnold Winkelried, the great swiss independence hero, would make a great name for a cat. All the other cats would be afraid to mess with him. (More details about the courageous and heroic Arnold Winkelried available upon request.)

Chess-related:
Nimzowitch, the chess player who pioneered many unusual and off-beat chess openings. Good for a cat that is slightly eccentric.

“En Passant”, for the cat who likes to wander. “En Passant” is french for “in passing.”

“J’adoube”, for the lazy cat that likes to be petted. “J’adoube” is the official expression when you’re rearranging a chess piece on the board but don’t attend to move it.

Some other chess openings (or players) that are catchy names: Caro-Kann, Giuoco Piano, Ruy Lopez. I personally think “Ruy Lopez” has a very nice ring to it.

Architecture - not my forte. How about one of post-and-lintel, arch, vault, dome, truss. Those of course would be chosen according to the cat’s body type. I also seem to remember that an architect tries to respect the three principles of firmitas, utilitas, and venustas (something like stability, space and beauty). Maybe one of those words would fit.

Cthulu
Xenos
Pandora
Chewbacca
Oedipus

That’s what I wanted to name my second cat, but my SO balked. We settled on Julius, so she can call him Jules. But Agamemnon is a fine, fine name for a cat.

MR

Architecture: Crennalatted Battlement? Facade? Dorian?

BTW, one of my cats is name Jack after the boxer Jack Johnson. One can get to carried away.

Completely unrelated to any of your criteria, I humbly submit slant.

My cat just had four kittens. We named them

George, Paul, Ringo, and Spooky Poop.

A girl

How about “Cad” after Auto-Cad? It would also be funny because it sounds like you’re saying “Cat” with a stuffed up nose. Hm, maybe that’s not funny, but I think Cad is a pretty cool name.
