Your current to-do list

Mine is huge and causes me despair. Here are a few items from the list:

  • Inflate bike tires
  • Get car into auto shop to replace brakes
  • Pay uncle’s $300 illegal U-turn moving violation fine
  • Repost rent ad on Craigslist for parents’ house
  • Buy more black socks
  • Submit rebate for new toilet
  • Return “The Last Page” by Anthony Huso to the library

The work list is long – we’re two weeks out from a website launch – but the home list is pretty manageable right now:

Take books back to library
Buy dried apricots
Pay gas bill
Reply to T’s email

Exchange boots I got for my birthday with other sized boots I will give my daughter for christmas.
Clear database errors in 50 employee work schedules.
Meet with boss one last time before vacation.
Wrap gifts.
Do laundry
Make and keep dentist appointment.

As of today there is a very festive tree in my living room though, so that’s one less thing on the list

Mine is the same as Patrick’s.

(Well, it was a lot longer a week ago…)

My work list is ridiculously long, and so is my home list:

  1. Clean kitchen
  2. Put away laundry
  3. Clean bathrooms
  4. Make cookies for cookie exchange
  5. Vacuum
  6. Get overlyson to clean up toys in living room
  7. Clean off dining room table (actually my husband’s job since he uses it as his desk at night)
  8. Oil change & brake check
  9. Finish Christmas shopping & then wrap gifts
  10. Box outgrown clothes for the kids
  11. Shop for self (I haven’t done this in over a year, and then I was in maternity clothes)
  12. Clean basement (again, mostly my husband’s job; most of his computers live downstairs)

We also had finding a hot water heater on the list, but so much is going on with both my work and my husband’s business, plus kids and holiday planning that we’re hiring a concierge service to hang out at our house and get bids for us. They’re coming to visit us on Sunday - we want to make sure we’re comfortable with the lady before we let her have a key to the house. I’m actually really relieved; if she works out well, we might ask her to do a few other projects for us.

I also need to plan my garden for next year and get the tree cutting guy out to shape up a few trees in our lawn, mostly because I don’t want a limb landing on the house at some point over the winter should we have an ice storm.

I have to take some vacation before the end of the year or I will lose it. So, I will be off for the next two weeks. In that two weeks, I hope to:

  1. Install ethernet cables in the attic for Uverse TV (the Mrs. wants a HD DVR capability for Christmas),

  2. Remodel the entertainment center to hold a bigger TV and install said TV,

  3. Finish painting the rear entry door I installed last weekend,

  4. Cook all of the meat for the wife’s dysfunctional family Christmas,

  5. Get the inspection sticker on her motorcycle,

  6. Clean the gutters,

  7. Trim the tree limbs in the back yard and dispose of them,

  8. Saw a trailer load of 2" x 6"s for my uncle,

  9. Saw enough fence pickets for my step-son to be able to re-fence his yard,

  10. Saw some walnut crotches into slabs for my uncle,

  11. Saw and split at least two more cords of firewood,

  12. Sort through a stack of quarter-sawn white oak that’s been drying for two years, trim and plane it into grade lumber,

  13. Oh, yeah, relax a little.

If I finish all of that, I can start remodelling the master bedroom. I’ve put that off way too long.
