I just purchased an Xbox 360. I am getting Halo 3 and Forza 2. I will probably pick up another game or two. I don’t have a big budget for games, so I need to know what games are of the must-play variety. So I figure if I can compile everyone’s number one choices, I’ll have a quality list to choose from.

I don’t actually own a 360, but I partially own a copy of Rock Band since me and two friends split the cost to buy it. And it is an awesome party game.
Single-player, I’ve tried Bioshock and Mass Effect and both are great. Also was pleasantly surprised at Call of Duty 4’s multiplayer even though I’m not that into FPS multiplayer.

Ace Combat 6
Lost Odyssey: best current-gen RPG imo. Decent story, dreams are cool. Only downside is random battles.
Mass Effect: Second best RPG, but a lot shorter than LO, and boring sidequests.
Gear of War: Fun shooter.
Soul Calibur 4, and Beautiful Katamari are the two that take up most of my time.
Sid Meyer’s Civlization Revolution.
I have spent more time playing this game than all of my other xbox360 games combined.

CoD4 and Battlefield Bad Company are both good multiplayer games.
Dead Rising. It might as well be called Dawn of the Dead (there is a disclaimer on the box that says there’s no connection)…its a totally openended game where you are trapped in a mall with zombies. I like games where you can just screw around, and this game is perfect since every item not bolted down can be used as a weapon (even grab a metal shelf and start whacking!). The game also offers a real challenge if you actually want to beat it, and has enough new game + side quests to keep you busy for a long time after.r

Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2. Vegas 2’s gameplay is improved in small ways that make it so much more of a joy to play than the first one, but they are a concurrent storyline and both are awesome. The team tactical play is just great.
Burnout Paradise. Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way… turn.

Send a friend request to AAA SDMB to play with Dopers.
Call of Duty 4 still gets the most playtime, even ten months after it’s release. I’ve almost got that gold cross in multi-player.

I’ve purchased Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect, but haven’t started them yet due to our remodel.
Call of Duty 4 is great, but also you should wait a bit and pick up Falllout 3 when it comes out (end of october).
