My brother always chose Charleston Chews because they seemed so large. And they were good frozen and shattered.
It has been ages–AGES–since I have seen a box of Berry Berry Kix. My heart weeps! Kix itself is a mightily good cereal, but the addition of sweet berry goodness made it truly the mightiest of all breakfast cereals.
Also, I’ll agree that fruit snacks today are just… really different somehow. I’m not even sure I could tell you what’s changed. But I seem to remember fruit snacks shaped like… whistles? Or am I imagining these?
I bought them, I ate them, and they were delicious. They were not quite like the Chef Boyardee ones–they were much larger and less glutenous. However, they are probably a lot better for me than the Chef Boyardee version. You, sir or madam, have served me well.
I just remember wax whistles, wax harmonicas and wax bottles filled with sugary goo.
Also teeth and lips. Wax was some bodacious stuff in the old days.
I always thought I wanted it but after half an hour of gnawing on a growing wad of wax…I always ended up tossing it in the street. :smack:
Should have saved it to make a candle. Or wax your yo-yo string.
Mararthon which was 8 inches of braided caramel, covered in chocolate. The best candy bar ever!
Swee-Tarts, period. The original ones, lens-shaped and packaged in a gold foil envelope. The modern ones (concave on both sides and packed in a tube) look and taste completely different, and don’t even have the same texture–they’re too hard.
Similarly, the original Five Flavor LifeSavers (cherry, orange, lemon, lime, pineapple)…and while I’m at it, the original Tropical Fruits roll (coconut, pineapple, mango melon, banana, tangerine).
I preferred Spree. Talk about making your teeth hurt, in a good way.
Strawberry Jam-filled Mini Shredded Wheats. They have them in strawberry frosted now, but the jammy filling made them great even without milk. Mmmm, red 40 and artificially flavored gelatin! I had them in Oregon in 1994, and haven’t seen them since.
