Your favorite pie?

Shepherd’s Pie.

Too hard to choose a favorite. I love them all. Apple, Cherry, Pecan, Banana Cream and anything and everything in between. Well, maybe not steak & kidney, but if you left out the kidney, then we’d be in bidness. However, all pies must be homemade!
YaWanna I’m with you on the Key Lime. You can occassionally get Key Limes at the local market, even here in the PNW. They resemble very small lemons, but the taste is, as you say, much more delicate. I’ve made it once, and it was scrumptious. You can find plenty of recipes online if you want to try it sometime.

Fur.

Oh! Remon!

Okay. Two things wrong here. Apparently I hit the size tags. I was looking for the colour tags. I have no idea how I fucked that up.

Second mistake: That should say “Lemon”. In my defense, I was learning some more Japanese words today, but I honestly didn’t intend to write “Remon”.

Idiot.

Sweet potato or pumpkin only. Fruit pies are out because I prefer fruit raw. Cream pies don’t work for me either.

Pecan (hot!), blueberry, pumpkin. In that order.

Deep-Dish Apple Pie, with Brown Sugar. Yum!

Steak and mushroom

Any made by my SIL. My family has no hand for cooking sweetstuffs, but any pie of cake she does is just incredible!

So far I’ve tried her apple pie, strawberry pie and peach pie. As well as chocolate cake, three-layer cake, white cake and tiny sweet dumplings.

She once brought apple pie and peach pie over for my birthday and apologized for not bringing anything else as a present. I think my brother spent a couple of months convincing her that yes, I was sincere when I said the cakes were perfectly fine and lovely. Nothing wrong with bringing a sample of culinary talent to a meal, is it? I had specifically asked for “no presents” that year but I don’t think she understands the concept; she’s been known to “do” coy.

SIL and me are from different planets, but I’ll be happy to fly over for those pies any time.

Sweet potato pie, made with leftover Thanksgiving sweet potatoes
My Aunt Shelley’s deep-dish peach pie or deep-dish blueberry pie, made with fruit bought from a roadside farmstand

Heck, just about any fruit pie made with great fruit fresh off the tree/bush/vine - it’s all about the ingredients!

I’ll take a fresh slice of huckleberry pie with a scoop of ice cream.

Strawberry Rhubarb is by far my favorite. After that comes my grandma’s key lime, and then a nice pear pie.

It seems that a trip to House of Pies is in order for tonight…

Strawberry-Rhubarb is my absolute favorite fruit pie.

And chocolate pecan is my favorite non-fruit pie.

MMMMMM…pie! :stuck_out_tongue:

Pecan if it’s my grandma’s recipe. Nothing is better than the perfect apple, washed down with some coffee. I always get a raspberry though for my birthday.

I like pie. Cake is for suckers.

I agree with everything you say, except … I really don’t care for meringue. It tastes okay, but the texture doesn’t please me. I like the whipped cream topping. Once I had key lime pie with a thin layer of some sort of lightly-sweetened sour cream on top. Mmm, that was good pie.

For fruit pies, I love anything that’s sour or tart: lemon, rhubarb, etc. I once had a lemon blueberry cream pie that was delicious. Cherry pie, if they’re the good fresh sour pie cherries, is divine.

Not that I’ll turn down any pie.

I’ll take any pie over any cake (not including cheesecake, and even then, I’d have to choose on a pie-by-pie basis).

Key lime is my favorite, but being a South Florida boy, I don’t consider anything green and Jell-O-like to be real key lime pie. For me, I prefer whipped cream to meringue, but some creamy buttercream frosting is awesome too. Oh, and you have to go with graham cracker crust, all the way.

I love any fruit pies OR cobblers. I’m a sucker for mixed berry, blackberry, or blueberry pies, especially when some kind of sweetened cream cheese is also involved (combining pie and cheesecake, my favorite desserts). Pineapple pie in an apple pie-like crust is also pretty badass. Beyond that, I like apple and cherry just fine, but I’ll always go with “exotic” or “novelty” fruits over the big two. I like pumpkin pie briefly around Thanksgiving, but I’ll still choose most fruit pies over it, even then.

Apple crumb pie hot from the oven with vanilla ice cream melting over it, topped with walnuts lightly toasted in butter , rolled in cinnamon & sugar… mmmmmm.

A close second is pecan pie.

Dammit… now I want pie.

Sour cherry pie would have to be first. I always asked for that on my birthday instead of cake.

A close second would be Derby pie. (Just don’t call it that anywhere within earshot of Kern’s.)

Fruit or berry pie of almost any kind (not raspberry cuz of the seeds).
Chilled.
Dough crust, not graham.
Chocolate of any kind in pie is wrong unless it’s a chocolate mousse pie.

Mmmmm… Piiiiiie…
