Your favorite Pink Floyd Song

I know it is hard to pick just one,but try to pick JUST ONE.

For me it is

Run like Hell

Dogs

Wow, that was easier than I thought it would be.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all parts). If I have to choose between Parts I-V and VI-IX, I’d go with VI-IX.

I honestly don’t think I could name a favorite. It depends on my mood. But since you mentioned Dogs, I’ll counter that with Pigs On The Wing.

I like the back tracking at the beginning of “Empty Spaces”.

Atom Heart Mother

I catch myself singing Comfortably Numb a lot in the shower, but I know that’s way too easy an answer.

No way to pick ONE favorite. So I’ll go with the one that fits my mood at the moment: San Tropez.

Depends on my mood, but I’ve always been partial to most things on Animals. That’s one I usually listen to from start to finish. Headphones are mandatory.

Echoes

No doubt - Comfortably Numb

For me, it’s “Time”.

Astronomy Domine (*Ummagumma *version)

One Of These Days

(or Time)

(or Dogs)

(or Sheep)

(or Wish You Were Here)

(or The Gunner’s Dream)

(or Astronomy Domine)

Uh, I’ll get back to you.

Depending on my mood, almost any song on the first three sides of The Wall. Nearly all of them have soloes that are, by themselves, better than most good albums. ETA I dont know technically where side three ends but I’d include Comfortable Numb as a candidate.

Muskrat Love

Oh wait, no, that’s Captain and Tennille.

I’ll go with Wish You Were Here.

“How I wish you were here…”

I hear this refrain in my head, quite frequently, as it happens.

You know, I feel the same way.

I love The Wall as a concept album, but on the whole the mood depresses me. I cannot separate the parts from the whole.

To me Dogs is everything that Pink Floyd is.

I think Us and Them would be a close second. It doesn’t make first for me because I don’t see it as being as definitively Floyd as Dogs is.

Very difficult to choose. But I can say one of my fondest Pink Floyd memories – that I can tell publicly – involves “Wish You Were Here.” I was wandering through the small city of Brno, Czechoslovakia one afternoon back in Cold War days, feeling a glow from having just imbibed a quantity of good Czech beer with my lunch, when all of a sudden I detected the tiny strains of the song. Was I hearing things? No, it was “Wish You Were Here.” I must have spent half an hour tracking down where it was coming from, finally discovering it being played by some construction workers. That may not sound like much, and maybe it’s just the buzz I had on, but finding someone playing Pink Floyd in a communist society struck me as totally cool at the time.

tough call, but if we are picking song titles, mine is: Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict
