Favorite Pink Floyd Song

Recently, Roger Waters visited Venezuela, and I had the chance to hear Pink Floyd (well, Roger Waters and his band) in concert, and i was amazed by the sound.

On that day I just wanted to hear… Dogs.

Hmmm…that’s a tough one.

There are so many:

Money
Another Brick In The Wall
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Wish You Were Here
Breathe
Welcome To The Machine
Have A Cigar

But I’m gonna have to go with Time, from Dark Side Of The Moon. It’s the perfect Pink Floyd song, both lyrically and musically.

Is anybody out there?

Jesus, how could I forget Comfortably Numb? Thanks, t-keela.

[sub]Time is still better, though. ;)[/sub]

Has anyone heard the song “Julia Dream?”

Aah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha…wait a minute…that’s Ozzy ain’t it?

(glad to see I ain’t alone out here, ridin that crazy train)

I’m not really a fan, but I love “Eclipse” at the very end of DSOTM. I love the way “Brain Damage” blends into it, I love the harmony of the verse, and I love the organ.

I think that if I had to pick my very favorite, I’d have to go with “Wish You Were Here.” It reminds me of an old friend who is no longer around.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond

You know, angelicate, it was a really hard decision for me. Wish You Were Here is such a great song. It lost by a whisker.

My personal favo(u)rite old (i.e. late 60s Syd Barrett era) Pink Floyd song is “Astronomy Domine” as heard on their first studio album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

My overall favo(u)rite is “Echoes” from Meddle

“Strangers passing in the street, by chance two separate glances meet, and I am you and what I see is me” — lyric from “Echoes”

Comfortably Numb. Normaly played at near max volume in the car to get the best out of Gilmour’s amazing guitar.

The “Echoes” CDs are permanently in the CD changer in the car and CN usually gets played if the journey is over an hour long.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

Over and above all the rest, the one most likely to make me stop what I’m doing, drop everything, and crank up th’ volume.

Great Gig in the Sky.

I’m quite fond of “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Grooving In a Cave With a Pict” from Ummagumma. “Grantchester Meadows” from Ummagumma, IMHO, is the the most beautiful song the lads have ever done.

One of these days I’m going to cut you into little pieces.

Wish you were here

and

Comfortably Numb

“Fearless,” from Meddle

Shine on you crazy diamond, followed by the underrated masterpiece Julia dream. The bronze is a competition between Echoes, Pillow of wind and Mother.

Obviously (see above) I have…
