Your first SDMB post

Can camels swim?

Apparently I lurked for six years before making a snide remark about basketball…

It was a painfully stupid post and I note without comment that already by my fourth post I’d already tired of people not reading the damn thread before posting. That probably should have been a sign.

Mine was in General Questions in Could we construct an anti-matter weapon today, if we could get the antimatter?:

Why not use the antimatter as a “booster stage” to a fission bomb, just like with thermonuclear weapons ? I can’t think of a practical faster way to mix matter and antimatter than that.

Didn’t for me.

:golf clap: well played.

I asked for a cookie from Skald.

Some pish about alarm clocks. The quality has diminished slightly since then.

This is the kind of thread I want to be a part of.

I occasionally use my mobile phone as an alarm clock, if I’m away from home, or whenever I want to wake at a time other than 6.30am - the time to which my digital clock radio is set.

The phone never fails to wake me. However, I like to listen to the radio in the morning, and to be able to see the time if I wake during the night. Hence why I have a digital clock radio.

[PS Hello everyone! First ever post - went quite smoothly, I thought.]

My first post was about how Matt Houston on DVD combined the titles and first act into one chapter, in response to someone else’s complaint about #1 of Monk doing basically the same thing.

Putting English on a ball is similiar to eating an English muffin - neither term means anything here in England. We use the term “side” (not to hard to figure out the origin) for putting lateral spin on a pool (or snooker in our case). Otherwise it’s “top” for top spin and “screw” for back spin.

1999 was a long time ago!

It’s in here, on September 15th, 1999.

Note how many members in that thread still post here.

I can’t seem to pull up anything older than August of 1999, so the first post I can recover is one where I made a very poor pun in a thread about trucks with the word “FISH” written on their backs.

(ETA: I am gladdened to see that my posting style has not changed much over the years.)

I’m glad mine was so cerebral. It was about one hit wonders.

What about (and I don’t know the artist

Disco Duck

Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road.

I can’t go back that far in the search, but I’m fairly sure that it had to do with Ted’s Caving Page. I posted here and a week (+ or -) earlier on the Snopes message board about it.

Something in Cafe Society about Madeline and Miss Clavell.

Even then I signed my posts.

Regards,
Shodan

Yes- I see you joined the same time as I did. I had to use google to find what I think is my first post.

A post about cartoon characters with kids.

Sadly, I noticed that WeirdDave got banned at some point. What was up with that? Guy always hosted the SDMB Diplomacy games. :frowning:

My first post was asking if it was safe to drink my own urine. Some friends had talked about getting a pool together to pitch in to intice me to do so. I was kinda that guy at the time… “What, zip tie my scrotum for a Sourdough Jack meal? Sure, why not.”

Happily, I like myself a lot more now than I did then.

And no, I didn’t do it.

I can’t believe that so many people have been here so long and don’t know how to use the search function. You can set the search for either ascending or decending to get your last or first bunch of posts. You can also set the search to start a certain number of years back in the past.

How many people have the need to search for threads or posts over ten years old? To me, your reply is pretty condescending.
