Your Greatest Songs Ever!

Not the best video in the world but a pretty good song nonetheless.

From Listen Without Prejudice CD.

George Michael’s Waiting for That Day

David Bowie - Young Americans

This is the song that will play as my casket is being lowered into the earth.

These are truly great songs.

The reason I go for Adele singing ‘Someone like you’ is that it’s just her and a simple piano accompaniment - yet such a moving song.

A close runner-up for me is Hurt - one of the last songs Johnny Cash recorded.
It was a cover of a song by Trent Reznor who said “I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn’t mine anymore… It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure.”
