Your Help is Needed Again

Turns out we may be getting a cash settlement from the company who manufactured the tubing that broke off in Emma Kate’s lungs. I’m not sure it will be here by the time Patrick sends the rest of the funds but if it comes, I will make sure and send some your way, Cristi.

Still sending postivie thoughts. I’m a firm believer that they work!

Understanding about uncovered medical bills, I wish I had something to send. If the tax return gets here soon I can help. Lots of love and good wishes on the way with or without money.

No news is good news, I suppose. There’s been no change in Lee’s condition. Not improvement, but no deterioration.

Thanks to everyone. You really are awesome.

Being unemployed and married to an uninsured bassist myself, I can understand the position that he’s in. My most heartfelt sympathies go out to him and to your family. If I could include financial assistance with my thoughts for a speedy and thourough recovery I would, but sadly I am not able to.

Great idea about the benefit concerts and the tapes!

In the mail yesterday… I wish there could have been an extra zero before the decimal point. I hope it can help in some small way though.

Don’t worry. I’ll fix it when it gets here.

If the USPS will honor it (it’s their money order after all) add several!

Update!

We’ve received a total of $200 so far which ain’t bad, but I know some people still have some coming in the mail. I’m going to tentatively call a deadline of May 11th which should give everybody time to get in what they want. BIG thanks to everyone who’s contributed so far AND to those who plan to send something in soon!

Oh my goodness.

(((((everyone)))))

Thank you so much. You really are just wonderful, wonderful people.

Lee’s condition is still unchanged. He hasn’t had any more surgery, but he’s also not gotten any worse. My husband is playing a benefit for him tonight, and I think that will help a lot.

Thank you again. You’re awesome. All of you.

I’m bumpin this puppy.

Let’s go, people!!!

Euty,
can I send $ via paypal?
also, persephone, were you the one who posted about a little boy a while ago?
if it was, you sent me info and I completely lost it. Could you send me an e-mail?

One final bump …

And big thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. The rough count is somewhere around $600 right now. I’m going to be sending out personal thanks to everyone as soon as I can, although a few have contributed anonymously and some used their real names instead of their SDMB names, so I don’t have a clue who they are here. This coming Saturday (5/11) I’ll batch it all together and sent it to Cristi who will get it to Lee, so that will be the cutoff.

Thanks again. You guys are great.

Same question.

PS to Persephone,

I know it’s a bit early but you may want to give this a read:

My Mom has found it quite helpful in understanding what she has been feeling. This is a good site for friends & relatives to get some insight also. I continue to keep Lee in my Positive Thoughts.

:frowning: I’m sorry I missed this thread before. Cristi and Euty, you are indeed angels for doing this. I’m not the least bit surprised at the response, considering that this is the Community of Dopers.

I so wish I could send something myself, to help out. Financially, that is not possible. But I am sending all of my good thoughts and prayers winging to Lee for a complete recovery. I love the idea of benefit concerts, that’s wonderful that this is going on too. If you could give us an update on his condition and on how much the concerts raised, I’d love to hear.

Just a quick bump up for an update on how Lee is doing?

I know this is an old thread but is there any update on Lee? Evey once in a while I wonder what happened to him. So, Eutychus, Persephone - what happened?

Persephone is attending A Very Cranky Ramadam this evening, but she tells me that she’ll post an update as soon as she gets back.

Ah, thanks, Euty.

Terribly sorry, folks, for not responding sooner. This is the first I’ve been on the computer since yesterday afternoon.

Lee is doing very well. The problems that he has have resulted in his qualifying for a fairly significant amount of help from the VA (which he hasn’t started receiving yet, but it’s only a matter of weeks now). He’ll most likely never hold a straight job again. But, his recovery is going well.

He has some minor physical problems, and his short-term memory is also pretty messed up. But my husband has jammed with him a few times recently, and he says that while Lee’s bass-playing abilities were affected at first, he’s at the point now where only someone like my husband–someone who has known and worked with Lee for years–could tell that anything had ever been wrong, and sometimes my husband can’t even tell.

According to Lee’s SO Lenore, the doctors have said that they won’t really be able to tell what damage will be permanent and what won’t for anoher couple of years. I myself don’t really know about strokes, but that doesn’t surprise me. I don’t imagine that recovering from a severe a stroke as Lee had would be quick.

But it looks like he’s going to make a near-complete recovery.

Than you to everyone who offered support and well-wishes. It means a lot to me to know that people like you exist, and that I can call you my friends.

Much love,
Cristi
