You’re very welcome. My Mom found it incredibly helpful. She has short term memory problems too, it seems to go with the territory, sadly. I have thought of Lee off & on the past few months (funny how real the SDMB can become) so I’m glad to hear he’s hanging in there.

At the time that his stroke occurred, his financial situation was really, really dire, and he did end up losing his apartment. But he’s moved in with Lenore, his SO (they’ve actually been together for over 15 years, IIRC, just never bothered to marry or move in together).
Over the months since then, though, as they’ve learned more about what kind of benefits Lee qualifies for and what he doesn’t, they’ve found a LOT of help, from the VA in particular (he’s a Vietnam veteran). Lenore was telling me just the other day that the VA has approved him for financial benefits, and that now it’s just a question of how much. The numbers she quoted me, while I don’t recall them right off the top of my head, are pretty darn good. He doesn’t have any minor children to support, so that will make things a little easier as well.
But thank you very much for the offer. It is so very appreciated.
